We are looking for a Veterinary Technician III to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Baltimore, MD.

What you will do!

In the Veterinary Technician III role, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.  Works closely with Clinical Veterinarian(s) to perform daily health assessments of laboratory animals in the colony. Provides animal treatments as instructed by Clinical Veterinarian(s).  Performs technical functions required by research protocols, such as daily clinical observations and health examinations of sick animals, prior to reporting adverse findings to Clinical Veterinarian(s).  You will also be tasked with preparing and submitting written reports, charts, logs, and inventories for monthly deliverables. This role provides research support to investigators via Technical Request forms and will also assist veterinarians or investigators by performing technical procedures to include blood/tissue collection and processing, anesthesia, injections, in addition, operating and maintaining various medical equipment such as, IV pumps, and several others. You may be asked to administrative support to include facility data management, training staff and investigators, routine computer maintenance, composing technical aspects of animal study proposals, and other similar duties. You may also be asked to assist in the maintenance and detailed documentation of accurate surgical, anesthetic, and treatment procedures in the animal medical records and files, including assisting in medical records and file maintenance. There may be a need to monitor animal environments and provide animal health surveillance, including distributing animal diets, enrichment, and clinical treatments; reporting abnormalities in a timely manner; collecting, preserving, and preparing tissue samples; participating in study-related necropsies/tissue harvests; and calculating drug dosages and administration frequencies.

Who are we looking for?

A candidate with a BS degree in Animal Science, Biology, or similar discipline, or AA in Veterinary Technology is preferred; and a minimum five years of animal care and handling experience in a technical role in a biomedical research environment.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education/experience listed above. Eligibility for the AALAS certification at the LATG level required.

The pay range for this position is $26-29.00 USD per hour.
