  Job Summary The Dir. API & Integration Platform leads the team that is responsible for the design, development and operation of the API and Integration platforms in use across the company. They create platform roadmaps and define the strategic vision for their team driven by the overall vision for the use of APIs. They have a deep understanding of API and system integration practices and build close relationships with key IT and business stakeholders to ensure that the team’s effort is aligned with the company’s overall digital strategy. The Dir. API & Integration Platform manages dependencies with other team’s functions while identifying, building and managing strategic partnership across the different teams. They work closely within their team using Agile practices to ensure business value and user feedback is translated into new developments when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attain a strong understanding of business priorities and API needs

• Work with IT and business stakeholders to determine how APIs can enhance business capabilities and advance the company’s digital strategy

• Define strategic vision and roadmaps for API and system integration platforms

• Manage and prioritize a backlog of work using Agile practices, and coordinates with API engineers and development teams to develop new API capabilities

• Coordinate API releases to ensure high-quality and timely delivery

• Act as an API subject matter expert, ensuring APIs are used effectively

• Serve as the point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders for questions regarding API use, optimization, and adoption

• Team personnel management activities such as: work scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science or related discipline.

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years related experience in IT, with 4+ years in a software development or API technology design, implementation and delivery role.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

• Certification/Licensure: IT Certifications that demonstrate technical ability desirable.

• Must have strong interpersonal skills, specifically in leadership, persuasion and communication across a multi-national organization.

• Proven knowledge of API and integration platforms, concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Strong collaborator with cross-functional teams from tech, design, and business

• Experienced in facilitating agile ceremonies, managing a backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics, removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up, etc.)

• Deep experience of leading teams in an Agile setting

• Strong communication skills with comfort in speaking with business stakeholders

• Strong problem solver with ability to manage and lead the team to push the solution and progress

• Skills/knowledge of technologies used in the building of APIs:

o Backend development languages and frameworks (C#, .NET, JS, NodeJS, etc.)

o Writing and utilizing autonomous web services, microservices, RESTful APIs

o Performance tuning largescale apps

o Experience with database systems, with knowledge of SQL and NoSQL stores

o Experience integrating with JavaScript frameworks, such as React, Angular JS, etc is a plus

o Ability to write effective unit, integration, and API tests.

o Knowledge of immutable infrastructure, infrastructure automation and provisioning tools is a plus.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience building, consuming, and supporting APIs
