Job Summary Perform basic maintenance tasks to maintain the product, supplies and environment of environmentally controlled work areas. Breeds, raises and cares for small research animals on behalf of, or for sale to, customers. Follows proper breeding and animal care procedures. Monitors animal behavior and physical attributes to ensure animal health and confirm appropriate phenotype; reports any findings. Ensures biosecurity. Coordinates with Customer Service on scheduling and order status.

 

We are seeking an Assistant Technician (temporary position) for our Husbandry team located in St-Constant, Qc.

 

The following are responsibilities related to the position: Perform basic production room and animal husbandry cleaning (feed, water, bedding changes) to maintain animal health and/or the quality of production bunk materials. Perform routine and moderately complex animal husbandry tasks and monitor daily health and welfare to ensure product quality and health. Transfer and distribute supplies and waste as required to and from the room. Perform physical environmental housekeeping tasks in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Strictly follow all procedures necessary to maintain highly controlled barriers in the rooms. Perform all other related tasks as assigned.

  Qualifications and Working Environment The following are minimum qualifications related to the position: Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.). Experience: No experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

 

  WORK ENVIRONMENT: In performing the duties of his job, the employee regularly works in high, precarious locations. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate. Physical Demand In performing the duties of his or her job, the employee is regularly required to use his or her hands with fingers; to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; to reach with hands and arms; and to speak or listen. The employee is often required to walk, bend, kneel, squat or crawl. The employee is often required to sit. The employee is regularly required to lift or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds, and sometimes move 100 pounds or more. Specific vision skills required for this work include narrow vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
