The Director SSU Strategy and Planning (Biotech EMEA) is responsible to strategize, lead, and manage client partnership(s) within Study Start-Up to ensure Parexel delivers quality projects to its clients and achieves agreed operational targets. The PD/aPD is accountable for study start-up delivery of their respective portfolio of client partners and ensuring alignment to delivery of commitments, within the agreed expectations, including alignment to operational processes. The aPD/PD is an experienced leader responsible for liaising with senior levels of management and the ability to work with leaders within other core delivery functions. The aPD/PD provides the overall strategy and leadership of large, complex clinical trials or clinical trial programs, and directly or indirectly manages staff, including their development to achieve operational excellence, deliver projects/programs on time to meet client expectations.

The aPD/PD monitors and evaluate the industry, changes in policy, and technologies that impact SSU operations to ensure the highest standard of delivery to the client. The aPD/PD is responsible to actively promote new business by participating in project bids and client presentations as appropriate. The aPD/PD is responsible to ensure that appropriate management practices are in place on the partnership to maintain project and business continuity, including providing start-up expertise as needed to support delivery and business requirements. The aPD/PD will own project(s) or program(s) reporting within a Portfolio, to assess trends, ensure mitigations are effective and to develop start-up delivery KPIs for overall client satisfaction.

• Client focused and demonstrates an ability to create and maintain trust with the client through project and personal interactions; act as a trusted advisor and become involved in the client’s decision-making process.

• Ability to resolve issues independently and knows when to call on senior management for involvement in communicating to client executives after assessing the organizational implications of the interaction and consultation with Senior Management.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word, and project planning software

• Ability to become proficient with Parexel systems

• Familiarity with standard business and eClinical systems used in Clinical Research such as CTMS, EDC, IXRS, TMF and project planning tools

• Expert in ICH and GCP regulations in relevant geographies

• Demonstrated strength in managing Managers and leading diverse teams

• Advanced ability to successfully manage a full workload across multiple and varied projects/tasks
