Senior LIS Analyst

Purpose:

Under limited supervision proactively assists in managing the daily operations of the LAB LIS system(s).  Will maintain all aspects of LIS relationships to laboratory instruments including but not limited to definition, configuration, set-up, testing, and troubleshooting for all LAB locations.  Collaborate with end users, IT department, vendors, and management as necessary in the execution and fulfillment of duties.

Responsibilities:

• Support the end users in day to day operation of systems.
• Monitor system background processes on multiple LIS platforms     
• Monitor HL7 file transfers and resolve issues as may occur on multiple LIS platforms     
• Maintain quality control settings and support LIS quality control programs
• Participate in testing and implementation of LIS related application upgrades as may be necessary
• Manage LIS system access requests
• Manage all aspects of laboratory instrument set-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting
• Participate and support in management of CAP LIS Systems Validation Requirements
• Submit and manage vendor support requests as may be necessary
• Involved in the System Testing, Unit Testing and UAT for LIS platforms
• Design, set-up and validate laboratory instrument interfaces and interface filters to the LIS.
• Provide training to regional customers, as needed
• Represent department for regional labs in client audits.
• Manage Junior staff

Key requirements:

• Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation and terminology used in the area of responsibility
• Associates Degree (Bachelors preferred) and 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a medical laboratory environment
• Relevant work experience preferably with Laboratory related IT experience in biotechnology or related medical field. 
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
• Familiarity with 21 CFR Part II, data integrity requirements and expectations as well as common industry practice with respect to laboratory computerized system management and administration
• Exposure to SQL programming concepts and database.
