The Assoc Dir, IT Projects position will provide leadership, management, strategic planning  within the Project Management group in the Research & Development Solutions business unit.  This resource will manage a group of project managers that will be assigned to specific projects for delivery. These projects will be part of IQVIA's overall strategy to deliver solutions to healthcare customers, and their contributions will be visible to the senior management team.  This role will require collaborating cross-functionally with PMO leads, Program Managers, Technology team leads and onshore resources.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with IT PMO Leads, Program Managers, Delivery Leads to develop resource plans for the IT portfolio.
• Provide oversight of compliance and quality for IT delivery of selected programs/projects
• Work with Program Management, Resource Managers, and other Business Partners to align resources, teams and process to ensure successful execution of capabilities across programs
• Allocate resources in accordance with strategic and tactical priorities and company goals and objectives. Actively compare competing needs and benefits against existing work and strategies.
• Provide inputs to IT delivery programs to help establish processes and approaches to optimizing the way we work together
• Ensure that staff follows Quintiles System Life-Cycle (SLC) and Computer System Validation (CSV) procedures.
• Develop, implement, and review methods to assess quality and efficiency of work performed by team, including metrics, internal process improvement, Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions
• Actively assist in the strategy for continuous improvement to project management best practices
• Contribute to discussions on implementation of IT strategy on a regional basis and implement objectives, as appropriate. Assist with various strategic initiatives and the development of implementation plans
• Maintain knowledge of the IT industry; analyze the abilities of tools and technologies, compare with the need of the business, then recommend potential solutions to managers within the business
• Manage and mentor staff in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems; approving actions for Human Resource matters
• Perform other duties as required


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Solid, experienced, proven project and program management experience
• Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles (SDLC) and agile lifecycle methodologies and the role of project management with the SDLC.
• Knowledge of Clinical Trial or related processes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead a virtual team in a matrix structure
•  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and stakeholders.
• Critical thinking abilities to take complex, ambiguous, abstract project details and break them into smaller components, patterns, views and features.
• Ability to conceptualize and think creatively.
• Strong technical and business writing skills.
• Ability to develop training and support programs for global technology and process implementations.
• Must have flexibility in your work day as the evening for off-shore teams is the early morning (7am) of the RTP based teams.
• Limited travel may be required

DESIRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•        Experience in the Healthcare Industry with Life Science / Contract Research Organization (CRO) experience a strong plus.

•        Experience working a regulated Healthcare regulatory environment.

•        Professional consulting experience preferred.

•        Experience with the HP Project and Portfolio Management Center (PPM) tool or equivalent is a strong plus.

•        Experience as an agile Scrum Master is a plus.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field; with 7+ years IT experience including previous management experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
