  Job Summary Charles River is seeking a Team Lead, to join their team, at our customer contract, located in Cambridge, MA.  Position includes a $1500 Sign on bonus.  The candidate will be responsible for scheduling and providing guidance to Charles River techs working at Pfizer client site.  Performs a leadership role for Charles River staff and serve as liaison to Charles River Operations personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

•    Responsible for creating and maintaining daily scheduling for Charles River technicians.

•    Manage /reassign technical staff schedules due to illness, vacations or emergencies

•    Point of Contact for all schedule changes for CRL staff

•    Understands cage counts, census, and metrics for allocating work to technicians

•    Manages compliance rounds, including weekly walk-throughs, assigning tasks to be addressed, follow-up on completion, and trending for management team

•    Responsible for leading, organizing, implementing husbandry, cage wash, and animal receiving tasks

•    Performs animal care and husbandry tasks, including cagewash

•    Serves as SME (subject matter expert) to Charles River employees and trainees.

•    Tracks vivarium office supplies

•    Assist in the scheduling of Microbial testing and Water Quality testing

•    Serve as liaison between CR personnel and Pfizer management

  Job Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in Animal Science or related discipline.

•    Experience:  3 years related experience working  in a laboratory animal facility

•    Familiarity with the workings and supplies used in a lab animal faciltiy

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Certification/Licensure:  AALAS certification at the ALAT

•    Other:  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee and client records

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•    Must have proven experience in a laboratory animal care setting, preferably an AAALAC accredited facility

•    Must have familiarity with changing microisolator cages, cage wash skills, including utilization of rack washers, tunnel washers, autoclaves, etc.

•    Must be able to provide and follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with clients, customers, coworkers, and supervisors

•    The position requires direct contact with a variety of laboratory animal species.

•    Computer literacy in word processing and database record keeping in support of laboratory animal operations preferred.
