In return, we’ll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Technician to join our Discovery site in Beerse, Belgium. This is a laboratory-based role to support early drug discovery programmes across a variety of therapeutic areas. As part of our compound profiling and HTS team, he/she will be responsible for performing biochemical and cell-based assays to identify novel candidate drugs and/or therapeutic targets for our clients. All this is done in a team-oriented, result-driven, high-paced research environment. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Perform and analyse in vitro biochemical and cellular screening and profiling assays in multiwell format on a weekly basis.

•    Monitor and report turn-around-times on data delivery.

•    Generate and interrogate biological data generated for the project together with other scientific members of the project team.

•    Troubleshoot assays and participate in assay risk mitigation.

•    Communicate about obtained results internally and with client teams via email or in meetings.

•    Demonstrate ownership of own tasks to meet required deliverables.

•    Contributes ideas for continuous improvement and adopt process changes to improve efficiency within the department.

•    Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work environment.

•    Complete lab book to departmental and patent-acceptable quality standards.

•    Contribute to departmental operational efficiency.

The following are minimum requirements related to the Technician position:

•    B. Sc. or M.Sc. with up to 2 years of working experience in a relevant environment.

•    Experience in a CRO or Pharma environment preferred.

•    Basic knowledge of cell culture and basic laboratory techniques. 

•    Lab experience in biochemical or cell-based assays preferred.

•    Experience in working with automated liquid handlers is a plus.

•    Pro-active and collaborative mindset with focus on team work and quality of work.

•    Commitment to successfully deliver to tight deadlines is essential.

•    High accuracy and attention to the detail is a must for both laboratory and office-based work.

•    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
