Senior Implementation & Prototype Engineer

This is not an ordinary engineering role – we are looking for someone who enjoys prototyping quickly, hacking creative solutions, and working with clients to delight them with last-mile coding. The Implementation and Prototype Engineer is responsible for two main areas: (1) working with diverse sets of people to understand user workflows and requirements, and to build creative technical prototypes satisfying those goals, and later collaborating with the core engineering team to get those prototypes into production; and (2) implement our solutions with clients, from integrations to small features to data engineering to bug fixes, with the goal of delighting our customers and end users.

This role is truly for self-starters who have strong technical knowledge, a passion and hunger for solving user problems with software, and full comfort in using their own independent judgment as they work on highly compelling problems in healthcare.

Key Accountabilities:

Workflow / Architecture Iteration Work as part of client-facing teams to understand workflows, challenges, and needs Learn new subject matters and understand user motivations quickly, and be able to explain complex topics clearly Be an expert user and champion of the core products and platform, and hold well-developed opinions on how the product can improve or evolve to suit client workflows Have a strong view of what good looks like, and clear milestones that can lead there Translate sophisticated user needs to proposed technology and architectural solutions Taking and incorporating feedback from multiple stakeholders – technical and non-technical – and adapting proposed solutions Prototyping Design and prototype core product enhancements, and work closely with core engineering teams to inform and implement critical features that are derived from workflow and architecture iteration Make informed and reasonable decisions on whether to extend the platform with new features, create additional services and configurations, or create something brand new Demo and review prototypes with key stakeholders, then iterate quickly given feedback from those stakeholders Be flexible and able to walk away from experiments that are failing, as well as to double down on areas that require greater investment Translate to production Work with core engineering and product management team to develop long-term solutions based on initial prototypes and testing Collaborate in writing code to implement the long-term solutions Hold the bar for what is necessary to achieve long-term client outcomes Implementation With cross-functional project teams, determine and plan “last mile” integration, customization, and configuration projects to ensure client success and delighted users Assist in triaging client requests, and hold an opinion on what is required, what should be prioritized, and what is urgent. Work with the core product and product management team on necessary product improvements for immediate customer success Extend the product in small ways to delight clients Client Interaction Be an engineering/product subject matter expert on client calls Assist account managers and clinical subject matter experts as necessary in client interactions Represent the company and team professionally Integration Engineering Write necessary integration and enhancements code that sits on top of existing product integration points Research and understand relevant client systems Create general integration points to ease future integrations #ParexelAILabs

Qualifications : Skills: Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals, and a demonstrated ability and willingness to quickly learn what is needed across the full software stack to do what needs to be done Attention to detail, ability to work in a cross-functional and ill-specified environment, strong ability to decompose complex problems, and strong desire to solve root causes of problems Ability and interest in learning non-technical topics from diverse user groups, and effectively incorporating that in prototypes Strong oral and written communicator and demonstrated ability to work across cross-functional teams Opinionated product mentality and design experience Knowledge and Experience:  Experience working with real-life industrial data systems -- data processing and integration systems, databases, data modeling and analysis, and data visualization frameworks Exposure to machine learning, natural language processing, and general data science fundamentals Adequate experience with system/data integration, development or implementation of enterprise and/or cloud software Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail Strong analytical ability, judgment, and problem analysis techniques Experience with Linux systems Experience, training, or strong interest in healthcare and biosciences preferred Prior experience with all or some of our technical stack – modern Python, Javascript (ES6), React, Node.js, Postgres, AWS, Elasticsearch, Terraform, Ansible, AWS Education: No degree requirements Employment is contingent on disclosure of your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if relevant, proof of vaccination.
