Job Summary

Manage all maintenance department operations to ensure efficient quality operation of the physical plant. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

•    Plan, direct, and manage the operations and activities of the facilities department. Evaluate workload; plan and implement changes as needed.  •    Leveraging experience in Mechanical, Electrical or similar trade discipline, model and lead safe operations, including refine, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs, with a focus on reliability and safety.  •    Utilizing strong technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills, work with maintenance and production personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.  •    Plan and manage utilities infrastructure, identify, and implement equipment modifications to improve efficiencies and reliability, and perform root cause analyses of equipment failures.  •    Apply solid technical background in facility operations, production, or project engineering, while managing maintenance and engineering projects including contract negotiations.  •    Provide project management to lead and manage special projects as administered by the senior facility management, as well as manage site expense budgets and update the 5-year capital plan.  •    Prepare and review the disbursement of departmental budgets. •    Ensure GLP and GMP compliance in all facility operations, including acting and owner for validated systems. Supporting new validations and all change controls associated with facility operation •    Ensure facility compliance with OSHA, USDA, AAALAC, FDA, EPA and other health/safety and environmental related regulations. •    In partnership with the head of site Security, develop and implement proper operating procedures to ensure business continuity, animal welfare, and general site personnel safety.  •    Assist in the planning, response and recovery operations for emergency situations and disaster recovery.  •    Assist in the development of short- and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, staffing requirements and succession plans. •    Responsible for personnel management activities such as: scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews. •    Develop and publish Standing Operating Procedure and policies for the site •    Actively manage energy utility budgets and strive to conserve energy by implementing energy conservation and awareness programs throughout the site.  •    Maintain open communication with regulatory agencies and ensure all permit requirements are complied with. •    Responsible for personnel management activities such as: scheduling, personnel actions (hiring, promotions, transfers, etc.), training and development, providing regular direction and feedback on performance, disciplinary actions and preparing and delivering annual performance and salary reviews. •    Develop and oversee the implementation of departmental training programs, including orientation. 

Job Qualifications

•    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering, facility management or related discipline preferred.  •    Experience:  5 or more related experience overseeing management of facilities departments in large, complex facilities. •    Experienced in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEA) activities for maintenance/process/equipment design optimization to meet reliability requirements •    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. •    Certification/Licensure:  Driver’s license required.  License or trade experience in mechanical systems preferred. Certified Facility Manager (CFM) a plus.  •    Other:  Prior industry experience inclusive of large scale capital projects and facility management of controlled environments, GLP and AAALAC.  

The pay range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
