Manager, Network Operations

The Manager, Network Operations will be a service-focused individual that can lead a team of network professionals to deliver high quality, available, redundant services according Service Level Agreements.  As a manager of our global network operations team, the employee will ensure that network services and systems components align to and meet the expectations, standards, and objectives of our customers and Parexel.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the technical management, operations and ongoing maintenance of PAREXEL’s network infrastructure
  • Build, manage, and mentor the network operations team who is responsible for all LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Centers, Remote Access, Firewalls, Load Balancers for all enterprise environments
  • Embrace, sponsor and coach agile ways of working with a view to fully automating the configuration and management of our Network environments
  • Oversee Incident, Change, Problem management for network services according to ITIL framework
  • Provides technical leadership and management of Network systems projects
  • Oversee, maintain, and build documentation for network services and environments
  • Provides ongoing information to management peers regarding the general health of the environment, as well as enhancements and innovations
  • Keeps updated on industry trends and emerging technologies as applicable to PAREXEL.
  • Coordinates investigations of operational problems, and prepare proposals for continued improvement
  • Keeps senior management abreast of any changes in the technologies which may impact business decisions
  • Forecasts budget needs within respective technology space
  • Build high performing, globally distributed teams and work to develop resources to maximize their potential
  • Support network technology on a 24x7 basis with rotational on call resources, and ensure there are defined and published escalation paths, and that Parexel major incident management processes are followed

Key Accountabilities:

  • Define a Microsoft Teams strategic voice and video blueprint and subsequent high-level designs
  • Will help define, plan and implement the migration of key voice and video technologies to the cloud (translating the blueprint into migration and delivery plan)
  • Help to support emerging engineering and operations functions for Microsoft Teams voice
  • Ensures maximum availability and operational management of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Telepresence, and Cisco IP Telephony in general
  • Oversees Conferencing and Collaboration services for PAREXEL
  • Maintains a reliable telecommunications environment for all users
  • Works closely with other IT management and technical staff to evaluate and test telecom products
  • Defines, reviews, and maintains hardware/software technical standards, especially related to installation, configuration, management, and maintenance of telecommunication systems
  • Monitors key system parameters to ensure optimum performance
  • Undertakes the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management and development of the team to ensure their performance meets and or exceeds both the business and their own personal goals/objectives
  • Maintains a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner
  • Participates in formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales
  • Overall management of the regional/global telecommunications infrastructure, systems and processes, from general IP telephony, Telepresence and Video, Voicemail and contact center systems and solutions, to the management and procurement of 3rd party service provider services that interface with our systems 
  • Performance and fault monitoring of the regional/global IP telephony infrastructure, as well as performance tuning, new installations and upgrades for any telecommunications circuits/connections as well as equipment installations
  • Management of telecommunications resources to ensure that PAREXEL’s global communications infrastructure achieves maximum availability, and finds innovative solutions for improving PAREXEL’s global telecommunications communications platform

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate 8+ years of relevant work experience in network and operations management
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering roles for LAN, WAN and network security systems
  • Specific experience in implementation and support of enterprise network protocols and technologies, including BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, QoS, WAN Optimization, automation and scripting, wireless network solutions, and VPN, among others
  • Detailed understanding of advanced network security topics, such as firewalls, data encryption techniques and standards, vulnerability identification and risk mitigation, VPN, remote access and authentication solutions, etc.
  • Extensive experience and strong technical skills including the design, configuration, and tuning of firewalls, including Cisco ASA and FTD
  • Experience in design and engineering of highly available, secure and scalable Data Center network platforms
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus family of switches (9k/7k/5k/2k) and ACI (overlay technologies such as NXS a plus)
  • Functional knowledge of voice and video technologies, and network design concepts that facilitate reliable, high-quality delivery of these services
  • Knowledge of load balancing strategies and platforms, specifically F5 BigIP
  • Disaster recovery strategies for enterprise systems
  • Secure, scalable design of cloud solutions (Microsoft Azure a plus) as it relates to network concepts
  • SD-WAN experience a plus
  • Experience with advanced network monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Strong understanding on the OSI model and how it relates to Application Troubleshooting.

Education:

  • College degree in a relevant technical area or equivalent work experience
  • Relevant industry certifications a plus

Language Skills:

  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills
