Director, Data Quality

Job Purpose:

The Data Quality Manager is a key role to be executed as part of the new data governance effort for leading the efforts around designing, building and maintaining data quality management capabilities for multiple data domains.

Key Accountabilities:

Accountability Supporting Activities

Data Quality Management • Design and Implement Informatica Data Quality capabilities including data quality measurement activities across multiple systems, data domains, data sources

• Manage the development of Data Quality Profiling, Rules, Scorecards, and Workflows

• Execute on strategic application of baseline data quality performance and trending, including program evolution; accountable for the design, implementation and capability evolution (including manual execution) of multi-tier quality dashboards to help progress vs. a baseline level of data quality

• Oversee the development of Scorecard Monitoring Plans and other Data Quality artifacts to handover ongoing monitoring of Data Quality Scorecards to the appropriate Domain Data Stewards and partner with various stakeholders for ‘Execution’ hand-off

• Support root-cause analysis for IMR (Issue Management & Resolution) process

Data Quality Rule Inventory • Identify, inventory and manage a central repository of data quality rules that will be governed as an enterprise data asset

Stakeholder Relationships • Partner with the Business and Corporate IT to promote data quality tools, controls, and overall quality awareness across the data supply chain; define overall Data Quality KPIs, measurements, and reporting standards including escalation of systemic data quality issues

• Work with Domain Data Stewards to identify systemic data quality issues (e.g., issues that are common across Functions) and coordinate remediation/resolution; propose any data quality issues for escalation

Team Management • Lead, mentor and coach Data Quality Engineers and Data Quality Analyst

• Set goals and manage performance of team membersQualificationsSkills:

• Effective understanding and appreciation of Data Management and Data Quality related concepts

• Excellent problem-solving, written communication, collaboration, team leadership, and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and collaborate on cross-domain issues

• Familiarity with the underlying source systems including Salesforce, Planisware, Oracle Financials, etc. is a plus

Knowledge and Experience:

• Ability to develop and operationalize Data Quality initiatives including profiling, Data Quality rule development, development of scorecards, data stewardship, and issue management workflows (Knowledge of Informatica tool set is required)

• Experience with metadata toolkit like Alation is a plus

• Experience with purpose-built data quality tools, and/or disparate systems environments is preferred

• Strong verbal/written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority; able to prioritize, delegate and foster the development of high performance teams to lead/support an environment driven by team work; as well as strong trouble-shooting and organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Adequate experience / exposure to Data Management and Enterprise Information Management

• Familiarity with DQM and/or the IMR process

• Strong familiarity with business processes in the context of the data domain

• Previous experience in pharma and/or life sciences relating to the underlying domain

Education:

Bachelor’s in computer science or a relevant field is preferable.
