<h2>Job Overview:</h2>The Costing Manager is a position that sits within the Costing Department, as part of the ECS Team. The role is primarily charged with supporting the Costing Directors in the delivery of clinical study costings and will predominantly liaise with the Costing Directors on a daily basis. Interactions with other functional roles from Strategy and Planning, Therapeutic Area Business Units, Project Management Centre of Excellence, Client Services, Business Development, Global Site Services, Biometrics, Drug Safety and Global Regulatory Services will also be necessary in accomplishing the job. Assist and support the costing department to ensure clear alignment of project costings to customized delivery strategy by performing but not limited to the following tasks: Duties - <ul><li>Review RFP scope and specs and initiate the costing process by initial update of the pricing delivery tool ( PDT), ensure PDT is updated and accurate on an ongoing basis during the cost finalization process</li><li>Update and adjust the initial system generated default budget after feedback and direction from costing director/s</li><li>Attend on behalf of or with the costing director all team meetings during the RFP process like but not limited to- risk assessment for RBM, strategy, pricing specification and pricing delivery, bid defense preparation </li><li>Under supervision from the Costing Director, lead the production of ballpark estimates</li><li>Under supervision from the Costing Director, manage all delegated aspects of costing compilations for RFP responses and non-compete awarded projects</li><li>Create the initial draft of the customized monitoring strategy using the monitoring calculator. Finalize and apply to the costing after review and finalization in consultation with costing director/s</li><li>Set up and finalize patient grant budgets in the Grant Plan tool for new RFPs based on available Protocol and schedule of events (SoE) and provide for OMT review within timelines. </li><li>Amend and adjust the patient grant budgets subsequently during re-costing based on revised country site distribution or amended protocol / ( SoE)</li><li>Review proposed Covance pass through items and costs for new RFPs and request adjustments if required to ensure accurate pass through costs</li><li>Review and respond to queries from vendors during RFP phase, review proposed vendor quotes and request adjustments in consultation with costing director/s if required to ensure accurate vendor costs</li><li>Support writing and review of the assumptions document included in RFP response to ensure accuracy and alignment with the proposed budget</li><li>Coordinate with key stakeholders like resourcing, senior directors, clinical operations, global site services to ensure timely assignment of project team. </li><li>Update Resource Request Form for proposed project team for new RFPs and provide it to resourcing team within timelines. </li><li>Negotiate for team assignments with relevant experience and availability after review of the proposed CVs.</li><li>Review and coordinate with pricing to ensure accurate mapping and finalization of client budget grid with Covance WBS codes</li><li>Support and contribute to ongoing updates of country/ region/ client specific costing rules/ algorithms by working in close coordination with the costing director/s, regional and country SMEs and other relevant stakeholders.</li><li>Contribute to the costing director team in any strategic process improvement initiatives </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by management of the Costing Department</li></ul> <h2>Education/Qualifications:</h2><h2>Required: University/college degree (life science preferred) or certification in a related allied health profession (i.e., nursing, medical or laboratory technology) from an appropriately accredited organisation</h2> Preferred: Project Management Qualification such as PMP<h2>Experience:</h2>Required:<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical research experience in a pharmaceutical company or CRO</li></ul> Additional requirements include:<ul><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Demonstrated good planning and organization skills.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Good computer skills with good working knowledge of a range of computer packages.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Demonstrated effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Ability to understand and work with financial information.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Ability to resolve project-related problems and prioritizes workload for self and team.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Ability to work collaboratively within a project team.</li><li style="margin-left: 1.25in;">Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a matrix environment.</li></ul> Preferred:<ul style="margin-top: 0in;"><li>Experience in clinical study costing or clinical project budget management</li><li>Local project coordination and/or project management experience.</li><li>Thorough knowledge of Covance SOPs.</li></ul>
