Job Summary We are seeking an Sr. Research Study Technician for our Insourcing Solutions Department located in Cambridge, MA. -  Position includes a $2,000 sign on bonus.

Conduct in vivo experiments in mice & rats for multiple clients. Maintain and monitor the health and physical environment of animals in research studies. Provide guidance to technicians in the day-to-day technical services within Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL) serving as a work leader directing daily services in the absence of the Facility Supervisor. Collaborate with the veterinary staff to ensure that the health and welfare of laboratory animals are maintained in compliance with local, state, federal and institutional guidelines, and regulations.

The following are responsibilities relate to the Sr. Research Study Technician: Monitor daily animal health and welfare while performing technical procedures. Perform technical functions required by research protocols such as assist with dilution and dosing calculations;  dosing administrations (PO, SQ, IP, IM, and IV & RO); blood collections (Tail Vain, Submandibular, Orbital Sinus, Cardiac, Submental); Advanced organ necropsy and tissue collection as typically performed on toxicology studies, & profusions ; and Tumor measurements, body weights, IBD and /or EAE scoring, behavioral monitoring, etc. Rodent surgical assistant skills in anesthesia monitoring, pre-surgical and post-surgical care and monitoring, compound calculations. Rodent surgical skills (subcutaneous implantations) Perform and manage technical equipment operation (IVIS, Irradiator, Anesthesia etc.) Provides technical procedure training to less experienced staff and CRADL Clients, and provides re-training as needed. Job Qualifications

The following are minimum qualifications related to the Research Study Technician 2 position: Education:  :  Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) in animal or laboratory science or related discipline.  Bachelor's (B.A./B.S.) Degree preferred. Experience:  Minimum of two - three (2 -3) years directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility.  Experience as team or work lead, preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure: Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification from AALAS. Advanced certification preferred, examples include Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG), CVT, LVT, RVT, Surgical Research Technician (SRT) or Surgical Research Specialist (SRS) from Academy of Surgical Research. Other: Knowledge of behavior and appearances of laboratory animals is sufficient to notice deviations from normal. Strong proficiency of in-vivo technical skills and working experience of multiple animal models. Knowledge and understanding of the following guidelines and regulations: “The Guide”, PHS Policy, and AVMA. Advanced knowledge of rodent technical skills and capability of identifying sick animals, summarizing findings, and providing medical treatment as prescribed. Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workloads and to set priorities which reflect the relative importance of job duties. Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday  7AM-4PM
