Location/Division Specific Information: Plainville, MAThe Program Management Site Head is a solution provider to Plainville Viral Vector Services (VVS) customers, ensuring value creation and customer expectations are balanced to provide an outstanding customer experience while ensuring Thermo Fisher’s business needs are optimized.How will you make an impact? This position will have the opportunity to enable our clients to cure genetic, rare, and otherwise untreatable diseases through our leading and innovative Cell and Gene Therapy business. The role will elevate the PM team through building and acquiring talent and developing them through using the VVS program management office. Focus on impacting a fast-paced business with enormous growth potential through business expansion and vertical integration with other Thermo Fisher businesses.What will you do?

  • Maintains ongoing accountability in Plainville of customer program management including communications, financials, scopes of work, timeline, risk analysis, governance structure, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensures strong foundational business relationships exist with site client portfolio with respect to building and driving growth and governance strategy (including but not limited to risks, profitability, etc.). This is done in alignment with the VVS Business Management team and other PSG commercial groups.
  • Coordinate program management methodology with General Manager, Finance, and other Functional Department leadership to support delivery of site annual plan and customer commitments.
  • Identify potential project risks with the team and develop mitigation strategies, report progress, blocking issues, and risks to all collaborators. Know when to advance issues to senior leadership for resolution.
  • Collaborate with financial management staff to assure accurate forecast reporting, agreed upon timelines, review of monthly revenue recognition, and scope of service. Leads delivery of site service revenue targets.
  • Advocates client centricity within the site by demonstrating standard processes from across PSG to drive improved operational performance both with the customer and operations balancing requirements and priorities.
  • Responsible for the Demand portion of Sales and Operations Planning for the site; ensuring strong understanding and linkage with Commercial team on New Business and Business Expansion opportunities as well as core portfolio.
  • Acts as primary interface to Commercial Business Development / BM team to ensure Plainville is promoted as a key site for new and rapidly growing business by supporting hosting client visits and other onsite sales meetings and business analytics.
  • Ensures process and tools for governance models, customer dashboards including key performance indicators, PPI partnership approaches, costing, risk mitigation strategies are in place using Smartsheet gantt, decision and risk logs, communication plans, etc.).
  • Exercises consistent independent judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for acquiring solutions.
  • As a member of the site Senior Leadership Team (SLT), collaborates in action plan development to meet / exceed growth objectives.
  • Assesses and understands program resource utilization as needed to meet customer needs through collaboration and alignment with site Finance, HR and General Manager.
  • Availability to travel 10-15% of the time.
Supervision
  • Responsible for the Plainville Program Management team; Accountable for the growth and development of Program Managers.
  • Responsible to set meaningful departmental goals.
  • Identifies, attracts, motivates, and retains outstanding talent at all levels within the PM team.
  • Establishes team with an eye for succession.
How you will get here: Education/Experience
  • Bachelors, master’s degree, or Ph.D. in a life sciences field. M.B.A. is desirable. Project Management certification is desirable.
Experience
  • Requires 10+ years of previous related experience, with 5+ years in functional or customer project management and related technical understanding in GMP environment with ideal experience in supply chain, engineering, business management or manufacturing with internal and external client-facing responsibilities. People management experience of 3+ years.
  • Routine use of Smartsheet, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word is essential. Certification (PMP or Six Sigma) is preferred.
  • Pharmaceutical or Contract Manufacturing industry experience.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Consistent record to function effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to lead multiple priorities simultaneously and respond appropriately to change.
  • Assess business needs and provide a perspective on departmental goals and objectives based on priority/impact.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients to advance program outcomes as well as communicate to SLT and above.
