Role Summary

The role of Global Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Director will be responsible for the wellbeing, security and safety of IQVIA’s employees, clients, visitors and property, ensuring robust governance and compliance with EHS regulations and IQVIA policies as needed across all global facilities.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring business is conducted in a responsible manner by protecting the environment, our facilities, and the health and safety of our employees, customers, patients, contractors and public.

You will ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and industry standards relating to security, environmental, health and safety (EHS). Ensures EHS management systems are used effectively to reduce EHS impacts and to ensure 100% compliance.

You will develop standard operating procedures and requirements to support regulatory compliance and customer expectations, and to provide an operational structure for the organization. Provide input to drive global environmental initiatives and support business operations to fulfil corporate reporting obligations related to EHS and sustainability.

Management of facility threat, risk and vulnerability processes including assessment of environmental damage to facilities and business processes that may result from climate change events. Oversight and testing of business continuity procedures using periodic disaster recovery exercises.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing EHS programs for multiple sites across all regions to ensure compliance with IQVIA Corporate EHS policies as well as applicable environmental, health and safety regulatory obligations (e.g. US OSHA, UK HSE).
  • Manage process of periodic IQVIA facility inspections, including assessment of regulatory & compliance requirements and ensure corrective actions are implemented at each of the sites and documented in response to corporate, sponsor and site audits and reviews.
  • Produce, implement, monitor, update and actively promote EH&S policies and procedures and safe systems of work to all staff across all global facilities, and employees that work remotely or work from home.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of best practices to ensure each site is compliant with country/state and local regulations to EH&S. Manage the measurement and control of EHS performance of global facilities, via outsourced FM vendors as appropriate.
  • Engage with the business site leads to identify suitable resources in each facility to participate with the implementation of risk management including EH&S. Ensure appropriate management of environmental, health, and safety resources from within the business (e.g, safety coordinators, fire wardens, trainers) and manage those resources to ensure they receive the appropriate training. Design and maintain appropriate training courses that incorporate latest EH&S regulations.
  • Implement a self-audit program and oversee the implementation of corrective actions and associated documentation in response to corporate and customer audits/reviews of the site(s)
  • Coordinate regulatory compliance and reporting with corresponding agencies. Provide input to corporate reporting requirements (annual Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship Report, responses to customer RFI’s etc).
  • Review opportunities to roll out ISO certification across key global facilities. Develop a programme of improvement to implement ISO14001, ISO50001, HITRUST and others, to provide a foundation for security and sustainability improvements and act as a demonstration of professional commitment to our customers, employees and investors.
  • Lead on Incident and accident reporting and investigation following any reported incidents
  • Provide input and assist with the management of corporate sustainability goals including tracking of energy consumption and waste production data in Footprinter or alternative tracking tools. Implement process of tracking environmental credentials in all facilities against specific KPI’s and develop process of assessment and reporting against KPI’s for use in EcoVadis and other reporting tools.
  • Actively participate in the Sustainability & CSR Committee, seek opportunities to build awareness of global sustainability programs and engage with external initiatives. Assist with the development of ‘environmental ambassadors’ to help develop our corporate environmental credentials.

Professional skills and experience required

The ideal candidate should have…

  • Bachelor's Degree in Corporate Risk and Security Management (or similar)
  • Extensive relevant experience including in a site EHS role and of working with regulatory agencies
  • Experience working in a large corporate with global responsibility
  • Experience in a multiple-site EHS role.
  • EHS qualification (NEBOSH or similar)
  • Working regulatory knowledge of environmental and safety laws within multiple jurisdictions
  • Proven program management experience
  • Good organization and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (training/presentation, communication)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients

Other Information

  • This position will ideally be based in our London HQ, however we are also happy to receive applications from the EU as this could be a remotely based role for the right applicant.
