Job Summary We are  seeking a Research Laboratory Technician 2, for Insourcing Solutions client in Cambridge, MA. Position includes a $1,000 sign on bonus.

 

The Research Study Technician 2 (Consultant Biologist)  will possess expertise in rodent dorsal root ganglia (DRG) collection, cell culture and in vitro assays. The primary responsibility for this position will be to support rodent DRG collection, cell culture and the development of in vitro assay protocols. The preferred candidate would have hands-on experience with animal handling and culturing neural cell types.

 

The essential duties for the Research Laboratory Technician 2 are :  

  Perform primary Dorsal Root Ganglia (DRG) isolation and primary neuronal culture Support the development of in vitro differentiation procedures and the maintenance of iPSC-derived cell types Perform routine cell culture for mammalian cell lines Support cell and molecular biology workflows including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/RT-PCR/qPCR, viability/cytotoxicity assays, cell staining/immunostaining and imaging Support general laboratory maintenance including laboratory equipment and chemical inventory Maintain accurate and timely reports, document procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Lab Notebook guidelines Job Qualifications  

•    Education: Bachelor degree in a relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Animal Science, Chemistry). Masters preferred

•    Experience:  2 to 3 years related technical experience in a Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Contract Research Organization laboratory environment

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above

•    Certification/Licensure: None

•    Other:  

•    Experience with animal handling

•    Experience in routine cell culture techniques and ability to operate typical laboratory equipment (specifically pipettes, spectrophotometer, centrifuges, microscopes and other laboratory equipment) is preferred

•    Experience with primary Dorsal Root Ganglia (DRG) isolation, rodent primary neuronal culture and with in vitro iPSC differentiation is strongly preferred

•    Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Employee must have the ability to communicate effectively in a small group or one-on-one setting. Basic Microsoft skills are required (for example, Word and Excel). Familiarity with LIMS and/or lab automation is a plus.
