The CRL Research Animal Diagnostic Laboratories Research and Development team is seeking an inquisitive Postdoctoral Scientist to join our team to further develop their scientific skills in the field of molecular biology.   This role will be located our Charles River's Diagnostic laboratory in Wilmington, MA.     This is an 18 month temporary assignment with the potential to be hired as a CRL regular, full-time employee.

 

Under the guidance of senior-level scientific staff, contribute to and be responsible for research and development of molecular diagnostic strategies including TaqMan and Sanger sequencing and support of current routine testing or new options for current workflows. Responsible for providing technical support and knowledge to bench scientists and cultivating collaborative workspace. Skillsets required for success include excellent communication skills, critical thinking capacity, troubleshooting ability, formal documentation capabilities, attention to detail, and capacity for data interpretation. Successful candidates will be able to communicate results, discuss challenges, critically evaluate research plans and collaborate with all levels of scientists within and across RADS specialty areas.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in molecular biology, infectious disease, virology, molecular medicine, or related degree with focus in infectious disease Basic molecular and biochemical techniques including some of the following: qRT-PCR, Sequencing, Nucleic Acid Extraction One or more of the following Software Systems: Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, R/RStudio, Geneious, NCBI, basic computational biology (excel macros, power pivot, power BI) Strong organizational skills including formalized recordkeeping, time management and project prioritization Written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills  Self-motivated, collaborative, inquisitive and open minded

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with a wide-range of research animal models Background related to infectious agents and/or diagnostics Software related to specialized equipment such as qPCR analysis, etc
