A Research Analyst IV (Instrument Operator) – Bioanalytical Chemistry is responsible for: using established methods to operate laboratory instruments to quantify chemical entities according to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or GxP regulations along with adhering to study protocols to accurately document methods, procedures, and results for inclusion into study reports and regulatory documents.  The individual in this role demonstrates proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment for sample or solution preparation; effectively applies his/her experience and knowledge to operate instruments for data acquisition (e.g., LC-MS) and troubleshoot method issues; contributes to the department by working independently, completing assigned projects on time, participating in process improvement initiatives, and communicating effectively with others. Job Qualifications •    Prepares analytical instrument systems (e.g., LC-MS/MS) for the acquisition of study data per applicable analytical methods and SOPs.

•    Independently performs fundamental LC-MS/MS operations to include system setup in accordance with validation and/or analytical methodology, mass spectrometer calibration, tuning and optimization.

•    Role will include solvent preparation, LC-MS/MS instrument set up for initiation of sample runs, evaluation of instruments performance, troubleshooting, cleaning and maintenance of the instruments.

•    Follows analytical methods, recognizes expected results and/or deviations from the same, and follows up appropriately with management to minimize study impact

•    Initiates data acquisition for sample runs prepared by the lab staff.

•    Operates other applicable laboratory equipment, including any respective software applications, to prepare samples and/or solutions and quantitate sample runs.

•    Documents procedures and materials in compliance with GxP standards.

•    Assists in the completion of laboratory investigations, assay troubleshooting, and quality observations, as needed.

•    Contributes expertise to process improvement initiatives

•    Participates in training other staff in basic LC-MS/MS operation

•    Perform additional work as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years of equivalent experience in a technical laboratory role.  High School Diploma or GED required.

This position is 2nd shift:  4:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m.
