Job Summary The Laboratory Manager is primarily responsible for working directly with Senior Management to support programs that will increase revenue, provide a competitive advantage, quality service, ensure regulatory compliance and overall enhance the expansion of the General Laboratory operations. The Laboratory Manager oversees the daily operations of general laboratory process.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures for existing and future operations to enhance service quality and efficiency.

• Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of appropriate staff training program to ensure competency and compliance with Company SOPs., including staff training and competency records and other relevant documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.

• Read and understand the company and industry manuals and compliance standards, including SOPs, FDA requirements (cGMPs), CAP certified, and AABB regulations.

• Properly use HemaCare’s blood product information system (e.g., El Dorado, DigiTrax, etc.), as well as authorize and perform system overrides as needed and within the scope of authority and ensure to escalate system problems as/if encountered, to management.

• Develop and maintain the collection of appropriate quality assurance data and evaluate results to assess process improvement opportunities.

• Assess department capacity relative to existing and projected product needs and propose additional staff as needed to avoid service failures.

• Design, formalize and execute experiments to meet strategic marketing objectives for the organization.

• Able to understand and apply the most relevant scientific and technical knowledge in applications of human primary cells in cell-based assays, drug screening, and research in immunology, stem cell biology, genomics, cell biology, neurosciences, and other scientific fields.

• Evaluate and provide purchasing recommendations for lab equipment, reagents, and supplies.

• Review and approve error/accident reports, all related root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive action, and follow-up, as applicable.

• Support management to develop budget and resources for the general laboratory department. Job Qualifications

• BS/BA in Life Science, or related field; MS in Life Science is a plus.

• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist licensure required.

• Must have five years’ experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Must have general laboratory experience in industry, specific experience with cGMP or GLP preferred.

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

• Excellent time management skills; ability to complete assignments within established timelines.
