At ICON, we have an incredible opportunity for a Data Protection expert to join our legal team as a Manager, Data Protection in our Global HQ in Leopardstown, Dublin 18.

The Role

ICONs Legal team has been recognised by the GC Powerlist as one of the best in house teams in Ireland.

We have a dedicated data Protection legal team made up of expert data protection lawyers. The team supports the business and its affiliates by providing advice on data protection matters, monitoring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, training the ICON community, maintaining documentation related to data processing and acting as the contact point on data privacy matters for ICON, clients, vendors and regulators. Advising on compliance with relevant laws, national guidelines, codes and best practices in relation to data protectionMonitoring compliance with policy and procedures as required including undertaking and advising on data protection audits and privacy impact assessments with the assistance of ICON QA, IT Security, Clinical Operations and/or Internal Audit;Ensuring ICON entities maintain up-to-date annual registrations with applicable national authorities;Advising on international transfers of personal data;Advising ICON entities including staff on their obligations in relation to regulatory obligations and monitoring compliance with regulations;Advising on and drafting data protection contractual provisions in agreements with clients, vendors and sites as well as on terms and conditions for use of ICON products and services;Drafting and revision/updating of internal policies, codes of conduct and procedures;Preparing and delivering data protection training to staff;Advising in relation to data/security breaches and management of both clinical data (ICON as data processor) and other data where ICON acts as data controller;Advising on specific data protection aspects of ICON corporate and commercial initiatives including vendor selection;Staying current with global privacy laws and practices.Maintaining records of processing activitiesAssist in responding to data protection breaches and incidents;Act as a point of contact for supervisory and regulatory authorities on issues related to the processing of personal data.

What you needQualified lawyer with 4+ years PQEPractitioner Certificate in Data Protection (or similar certification)A comprehensive grasp of the EU General Data Protection RegulationSuperior English written and oral communication skills.Proven experience in addressing Data Protection matters (preferably in the Pharmaceutical/CRO/Biotech industry).Working knowledge of PC Applications (Excel, Microsoft Word, Windows).Ability to independently evaluate complex issues and utilize judgment to sort through diverse opinions to achieve consensus.Strong qualitative/quantitative analytical skills.Proven team player with demonstrated leadership and/or consultation skills.Ability to synthesize information and present/summarise conclusions and recommendations.Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel. Therefore, dependent on the employee's location, the employee may be required to possess a valid Drivers license.
