Senior Technical Delivery Manager

Calyx is looking for a Senior Technical Delivery Manager who will manage the technical aspects of one or more projects, typically to deliver a specific product or transformation via a multi-disciplinary globally dispersed team. You’ll be adept at managing the delivery of technical components for complex projects, breaking down barriers for your team, high level planning and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed.

You will also:Have the skills to assure the quality of the technical deliverables and motivate the team to take pride in delivering quality outputs.Assist in the setting and execution of delivery strategy and work closely with other internal groups to ensure the delivery to our clients is of a high quality. Coach and mentor the Technical Delivery Managers to ensure a high level of commercial acumen, understanding of delivery methodologies and stakeholder management.Defining project needs and feeding these into the programme/portfolio process will enable resource to be appropriately allocated. You will be core to decisions that build high performing teams, where people are excited about the work they are undertaking

This role is office based (post pandemic) in our new modern state of the art office in Nottingham city centre which has excellent transport links and has a great working environment and the feel of an innovative technology company.

Key Accountabilities:DeliveryTaking responsibility for managing the delivery of technical solutions to cost, time and quality – whether that be traditional waterfall IT project managed solutions or agile delivering using more modern methodsDecision makingDeciding on the most optimal delivery method for any given project.PlanningLead the collaborative, dynamic planning process - prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the teamMatrix ManagementMatrix-managing a multidisciplinary teamQuality FocusEnsure all products are built to an appropriate level of quality for the stage (alpha/beta/production)Continuous ImprovementEnsure continuous improvement via the actioning of detailed retrospective review plansTask ManagementDay to day task management across the technical delivery team.QualificationsSkills:Demonstrable experience of commercial acumenDemonstrable experience of resource managementAn ability to negotiate and influence others to obtain the desired outcomesAn ability to work with ambiguity and within a complex environment, managing/influencing a diverse range of stakeholders at all levelsExcellent stakeholder & 3rd Party Vendor management experienceAn ability to successfully matrix manage resources of differing experience and needs, feeding back effectively to line mangers in regards to their team members performance.Knowledge and Experience:Demonstrable experience over a sustained period in managing technical projectsProject management experience with a successful history of delivering all sizes and complexities of IT projects to time cost and quality using a variety of different delivery methodologies.Knowledge of project methodologies with formal Project Management training in PRINCE2 / MSP and/or PMP.Operationally aware with an understanding of the end to end process for delivering high value projects in a regulated environment. (pharma, banking, etc)Knowledge of delivery tools would be an advantage e.g. Jira, MS TeamsManaged a team of at least 8 either direct or matrixed reportsEducation:Degree or higher degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.Or equivalent work experience with demonstrable results.
