We are searching for a Data Support and Integration Specialist to join a small dedicated team supporting secure managed file transfers (sMFT) and specialty pharmacy data integration (SPDI) de-identified data feeds using in-house developed Linux-based management and workflow automation platforms. As a key member of the team, you will apply your Linux system administration and scripting skills to configuring, operating, automating, supporting and maintaining hundreds of data feeds and file transfers that are critical for regulatory approvals and research and development initiatives. Personal organization, task-management, technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are essential, as is a keen attention to detail and quality.  

In this role you will:

  • Monitor the data feed pipeline dashboard and secure file transfer automation ticketing system, performing manual operations as required and completing validation checks; develop and manage scripts to supplement built-in workflow and processing automation, address new requirements, and troubleshoot issues and blockers
  • Provide technical L2 and L3 support to suppliers and customers, documenting and tracking service incidences from identification through to resolution, ensuring service-level breach risks are escalated and stakeholders are updated promptly; keep technical documentation and operational run-books up-to-date
  • To onboard new feeds and transfers, or to support special company projects, gather and document new processing and workflow requirements, assess technical options, and complete specifications and perform or assign implementation tasks; contribute to cost estimates when new development effort, hardware or licensing is required
  • Actively contribute to onboarding meetings, including those with customers and suppliers
  • Prepare operational reports by collecting and analyzing system event data and ensuring that performance metrics are available for monitoring against SLOs and SLAs commitments
  • Demonstrate awareness of the importance of data security and privacy compliance and contribute to monitoring and reporting (i.e., HIPAA, GDPR, HITECH and PIPEDA)

To do this you will need:

  • Experience with Linux environments, including commonly used Bash commands and utilities, system admin activities like volume management, performance monitoring and MySQL maintenance, and the use of scripting and/or coding to automate tasks and prepare data for ingestion (i.e., Bash, Perl, Python and Java); able to demonstrate knowledge and technical problem solving abilities in practical hands-on troubleshooting situations
  • Strong analytical and detail-oriented aptitude and appreciation for the importance of precision, accuracy and diligence
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced, time sensitive and confidential environment
  • Strong people and conflict management skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams and with third parties; ability to escalate issues and explain findings to stakeholders and management
  • A friendly professional demeanor and ability to excel in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate motivation and good judgment in taking initiative, working autonomously, and asking for assistance
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in both a smaller/entrepreneurial milieu and a large company environment
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following is an asset: ELK stack, Cloud computing, data management analytics and solutions, and the healthcare sector
  • Interest and curiosity around Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) topics, practices and tools (e.g., Splunk, Graylog)
  • Must be proficient in English, both verbal and written communication skills
  • Has a diploma or degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience and certifications
