환자는 28일 동안 1일 1회 경구용 imatinib mesylate(STI571)를 투여받습니다. 허용할 수 없는 독성 또는 질병 진행이 없는 경우 치료가 계속됩니다.
최대 내약 용량(MTD)이 결정될 때까지 3-6명의 환자 코호트가 STI571의 증량 용량을 받습니다. MTD는 적어도 3명 중 2명 또는 6명 중 2명이 용량 제한 독성을 경험하는 용량 이전의 용량으로 정의됩니다.
4년 동안 6개월마다, 그 이후에는 매년 환자를 추적합니다.

재발성 필라델피아(Ph) 염색체 양성 백혈병
- 재발성 또는 불응성 급성 림프구성 또는 골수구성 백혈병 또는
다음 중 하나에 해당하는 인터페론 알파에 내성이 있는 만성 골수성 백혈병:
- 인터페론 치료 최소 3개월 후 WBC 최소 20,000/mm^3
- 인터페론 알파를 투여받는 동안 2주 동안 WBC가 최소 20,000/mm^3로 최소 100% 증가 확인
- 인터페론 치료 1년 후 최소 66% Ph 염색체 양성 세포
- 인터페론 치료를 지속하는 동안 인터페론 유도 반응 후 Ph 염색체 양성 세포 수가 최소 30% 증가
