Study Plan

This section provides details of the study plan, including how the study is designed and what the study is measuring.

How is the study designed?

Design Details

  • Primary Purpose: Basic Science
  • Allocation: Randomized
  • Interventional Model: Parallel Assignment
  • Masking: Single

Arms and Interventions

Participant Group / Arm
Intervention / Treatment
Experimental: Intervention
The escape room teaching method for the nursing process was implemented with participants in the intervention group.
Students in the intervention group participated in a four-station escape room activity designed to teach the nursing process. The activity incorporated educational tasks such as question cards, puzzles, and crossword puzzles.
No Intervention: Control
No instructional method other than the standard curriculum was implemented for the students.

What is the study measuring?

Primary Outcome Measures

Outcome Measure
Measure Description
Time Frame
Knowledge for nursing process
Time Frame: Pre-test data were collected in April after the theoretical and case-based sessions. Post-test data were collected one month later, following the escape room intervention.
Participants' knowledge of the nursing process was measured using the Nursing Process Knowledge Test. The test had previously been evaluated by the researchers, and its Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.77.
Pre-test data were collected in April after the theoretical and case-based sessions. Post-test data were collected one month later, following the escape room intervention.
Diagnostic accuracy
Time Frame: Pre-test data were collected in April after the theoretical and case-based sessions. Post-test data were collected one month later, following the escape room intervention.
Participants' ability to accurately identify nursing diagnoses for predeveloped clinical cases was evaluated using the Clinical Case-Based Nursing Diagnosis Assessment Form. Expert opinion was obtained during the development of the form. A total of 17 nursing diagnoses were identified.
Pre-test data were collected in April after the theoretical and case-based sessions. Post-test data were collected one month later, following the escape room intervention.
