Business Information

The Greenville, North Carolina, USA site is a large, multipurpose pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and packaging campus. The operation provides both development and commercial services for sterile injectables and oral solid dose forms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide system design requirements, in support of automation projects, to meet user specifications, along with GMP and data integrity standards.
  • Create user documentation and procedures for new systems, commissioning and start-up.
  • Support the startup of new automation systems by ensuring code and configurations meet specifications and validation requirements.
  • Provide twenty-four hour guidance and support in diagnosing and resolving difficult automation hardware, software, instrument, and process problems to maintain system readiness. Frequently, this effort requires collaboration with other site maintenance teams. Communicate issue resolution summary to impacted area supervision.
  • Build, or coordinate creation of, complete and detailed specifications and related documentation is provided that clearly defines user needs and system functionality for new automation systems or modifications to existing systems.
  • Retrieve supporting data from automation systems to support production or quality department requests.

Qualifications:

  • High School or Diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred. Five years of applicable experience as described below may be considered for equivalency to education.
  • Minimum of one year of meaningful work experience in pharmaceutical automation or controls systems automation.
  • PLC automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, and control system modifications.
  • Development of process control systems or equipment control applications using PLC ladder and function block logic. Allen-Bradley PLC or B&R PLC experience is helpful.
  • Development, support and troubleshooting of Rockwell FactoryTalk SCADA systems including FactoryTalk Historian.
  • OPC communication software and configuration
  • Basic troubleshooting of electrical/electronic control systems, read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of configuring/fixing servo systems and VFDs, HVAC, Hydraulic, Pneumatic.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multi-task and get results.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and social skills to establish and maintain effective collaborations with site teams.
