The Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy (M&SA EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. The M&SA EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.\u00A0

How will you make an impact?\u00A0

Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.\u00A0

Day to day activities include:\u00A0

  • Conduct on-site installation of innovative equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure accurate working order\u00A0

  • Conduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visits\u00A0

  • Provide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnel\u00A0

  • Cultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnel\u00A0

  • Travel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnel\u00A0

  • Complete and submit field service reports\u00A0

  • Provide training to customers and users on system maintenance\u00A0

  • Collaborate multi-functionally with product quality teams\u00A0

  • Provide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentation\u00A0

  • Provide guidance for various reports including identifying and isolating outstanding problems with the system\u00A0

  • Act as a subject expert and resource for training\u00A0

This position is ideal for an experienced service engineer wanting to be involved with a team with varied strengths and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas.\u00A0

Minimum Education\u00A0& Experience

  • Bachelor\u2019s degree preferred with 4+ years or equivalent experience of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

  • A detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities\u00A0

  • Ability to deal effectively with customers\u00A0

  • Excellent interpersonal amicability; must have a professional working proficiency in English\u00A0

  • Consistent record of fixing innovative systems and subsystems down to the component level\u00A0

  • Literate in MS DOS and Windows software environments\u00A0

  • Able to read and interpret schematics\u00A0

  • Familiar with UHV phenomenon and technology\u00A0

  • Must have ability to acquire a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required\u00A0

  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.\u00A0

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States\u00A0without\u00A0sponsorship.\u00A0

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which\u00A0includes a drug screening.\u00A0
