BAKGRUNN: Innsamling og lagring av prøver av blod og benmarg fra pasienter med kreft for å studere i laboratoriet kan hjelpe leger med å lære mer om diagnostisering av kreft og hvor godt pasienter vil respondere på behandling.

Hovedmål:

Vedlikeholde og utvide vevslager av svært karakteriserte prøver fra pasienter med akutt lymfatisk leukemi, kronisk lymfatisk leukemi, akutt myeloid leukemi, kronisk myelogen leukemi eller myelodysplastiske syndromer.

Andre mål som finansiering tillater:

Utvikle laboratorieanalyser for rask og presis diagnose av leukemi ved bruk av benmarg og perifere blodprøver.
Bestem biologiske, genetiske og molekylære parametere som skiller forskjellige subtyper av human leukemi med ulik respons på terapi, og utvikle "risikotilpassede" terapeutiske tilnærminger basert på disse parameterne for å skreddersy terapeutiske regimer, randomisere eller stratifisere pasienter i kliniske studier, eller på annen måte hjelpe i terapeutisk beslutningstaking.
Utvikle nye automatiserte og standardiserte laboratoriemetoder for påvisning og overvåking av terapeutisk respons og minimal gjenværende sykdom hos pasienter og bruk denne informasjonen til å designe kliniske studier.

OVERSIKT: Pasienter får behandling som anvist av studien Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) som de er registrert i.

Pasienter gjennomgår innsamling av perifert blod (myeloid leukemi) eller venøst blod (lymfoid leukemi) og benmarg ved baseline, på tidspunktet for respons eller remisjon, og på tidspunktet for progresjon eller tilbakefall. Ytterligere innsamlinger kan skje etter retningslinjene for studien pasienten er registrert i.

Prøver lagres for bruk i laboratorieforskning.

PROSJEKTERT PENGING: Prøver fra maksimalt 1000 pasienter vil bli samlet inn for denne studien.
