  Job Summary  

About the Job: There’s never been a more exciting time to be on the Analytics team at Charles River Labs!   Charles River Labs is on an exciting journey to modernize the data landscape, building a Customer 360, implementing new data standards, bringing to life the ‘art of the possible’ to our business partners, integrating with several new data sources, and ultimately building a brand-new Modern Data Warehouse in Azure.  If you are an engineer who enjoys cloud technologies, data warehousing, data analytics, and designing innovative analytical solutions, this job may be for you!

 

This role will work collaboratively, in a consultative way, across the business units and IT, supporting and mentoring engineering teams, as well as advising on best approaches to leveraging Azure in the most effective and efficient manner. Basic Qualifications

•    Strong and extensive hands on Experience with Azure cloud big data architecture

•    Good understanding of Microsoft Azure security, privacy, and compliance.

•    Implement best practices for Azure services authentication using service principals and managed identities. 

•    Familiarity with Azure resources service level agreements (SLA), and pricing for planning and cost management.

•    Configure and manage Azure virtual network, define Inbound and outbound rules.

•    Manage source control with GitHub best practices and define standards for the pull request (PR) process. 

•    Define and manage a release workflow to update latest code to the corresponding environments.

•    Build continuous integration (CI) pipelines with GitHub actions.

•    Experience with Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, Data Catalog, Azure Analysis Services Azure HDInsight/Spark/Eventhub, Azure Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure DNS, Virtual Network, DocumentDB, Azure App Service

•    Experience with Big Data Technology Stack: Hadoop/Spark/Hive/MapR

•    Experience designing and building cloud native applications as well as Azure Cloud migration experience.

•    Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services.

•    Project experience using Azure cloud, data lake storage, installation, security and infrastructure (IaaS) set up

•    Experience with Big Data Management (BDM) for relational and non-relational data (formats like json, xml, avro, parquet, copybook, etc.)

 

  Job Qualifications  

•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, Master’s Degree preferred

•    4+ years of Microsoft Azure experience.

•    3+ years of experience implementing automated deployments with GitHub integration and CI/CD pipelines.

•    5+ years of experience in defining GitHub branching strategy for Dev, TEST, PROD, and Hotfix deployments. 

•    2+ years of experience automating infrastructure as code using ARM templates.

•    5+ years of experience in scripting with bash, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.

•    3+ years of experience supporting Azure resources by monitoring diagnostics logs and alerts.

•    2+ years of experience in defining security strategy for Azure resources with networking and firewall rules.

•    2+ years of experience in defining and managing access control strategy for Azure resources.

•    Understand different types of storage (filesystem, relation, MPP, NoSQL) and working with various kinds of data (structured, unstructured, metrics, logs, etc.) 

•    6+ years of experience working with SQL.

•    Experience in ETL design, development, and performance tuning in general.

•    3+ years’ experience managing offshore teams

•    Experience managing and governing cloud costs for a data team

•    Experience working without other public cloud technologies AWS, GCP 

•    Experience with setting up and operating data pipelines using Python or SQL 

•    Experience working with relational databases 

•    Strong analytical problem-solving ability 

•    Great presentation skills 

•    Great written and verbal communication skills 

•    Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a project team 

•    Capability to conduct performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation 

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•    Ability to manage multiple efforts concurrently

•    Strong problem-solving skills

•    Strong knowledge of emerging technologies and tools

•    Strong organizational and time management skills

•    Effective collaboration of tasks across the business and technical teams

•    Able to work quickly and under tight delivery deadlines with focus on details 

•    Interface with key customers from all functional areas - Analytic skills are needed

•    Proven and recent experience of implementing solutions from requirements gathering and process design to functional production deployment

•    Demonstrated ability to produce high quality deliverables
