The Effect of a Psychiatric Nursing Approach Based on the Tidal Model on Psychological Resilience and Self-Compassion Levels in Patients Diagnosed With Anxiety Disorder

12 de agosto de 2026 actualizado por: Aslı Tekaüt
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of an online psychiatric nursing approach based on the Tidal Model philosophy on the psychological resilience and self-compassion levels of individuals diagnosed with anxiety disorder. The study is designed as a randomized controlled doctoral dissertation. The sample consists of individuals who applied to the psychiatry outpatient clinic of a training and research hospital in Ankara, were diagnosed with anxiety disorder, and met the inclusion criteria. Participants were assigned to either the intervention or control group using a computer-generated randomization method. While the control group received only routine clinical follow-ups without any additional intervention, the intervention group participated in 8 sessions of individual online nursing interventions structured according to Tidal Model principles. Data were collected using an Socio-demographic Information Form, the Psychological Resilience Scale, and the Self-Compassion Scale, administered online to both groups before and after the intervention.

Study Hypotheses:

Hypothesis 1 (H1): The psychological resilience levels of individuals who receive the Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach are statistically significantly higher after the intervention compared to the individuals in the control group.

Hypothesis 2 (H2): The self-compassion levels of individuals who receive the Tidal Model-based psychiatric nursing approach are statistically significantly higher after the intervention compared to the individuals in the control group.

Hypothesis 3 (H3): The psychological resilience levels of individuals in the intervention group show a statistically significant increase after the intervention compared to before the intervention.

Hypothesis 4 (H4): The self-compassion levels of individuals in the intervention group show a statistically significant increase after the intervention compared to before the intervention.

Armas e Intervenciones

Grupo de participantes/brazo
Intervención / Tratamiento
Experimental: Intervention Group
Participants in this group receive one-on-one online psychiatric nursing interventions based on the Tidal Model, conducted via remote video conferencing. The sessions aim to enable patients to recognize their inner strengths and to increase their psychological resilience and self-compassion levels.
One-on-one nursing sessions were conducted via online video conferencing platforms based on the philosophy of the Tidal Model. The intervention involves session processes aligned with the model's domains (Self, World, Partnership) and its ten commitments, enabling patients to construct their own stories, develop anxiety coping skills (psychological resilience), and cultivate a supportive inner voice (self-compassion).
Sin intervención: Control Group
Participants in this group did not receive any additional psychosocial or nursing interventions between the dates of completing the pre-test and post-test forms. They completed the process continuing only with their routine clinical psychiatric follow-ups and medical treatments at the healthcare institution where they were registered.
