Les dépenses en fournitures matérielles et en médicaments constituent les coûts par habitant les plus importants pour les missions chirurgicales.
Nous avons émis l'hypothèse que l'acquisition de fournitures au coût d'une organisation à but non lucratif entraînerait des économies importantes par rapport à l'acquisition de fournitures aux coûts des établissements universitaires américains du point de vue du fournisseur pour les réparations de hernie et les interventions mineures lors d'une mission chirurgicale en République dominicaine.

Critère d'intégration:
- Patients se présentant à l'Institute of Latin American Concern Center pour une intervention chirurgicale, préalablement examinés par des agents de santé locaux.
- Nécessite une chirurgie de la hernie, une hydrocélectomie, l'excision d'une masse cutanée bénigne.
Critère d'exclusion:
- N'a pas nécessité de chirurgie herniaire, d'hydrocélectomie, d'excision de masse cutanée bénigne.

Les doses de médicaments sont enregistrées et les codes QR des articles consommés sont scannés dans un enregistrement pour chaque procédure échantillonnée.
