Job Summary We're hiring for a remote, Sr. Data & DevOps engineer, to serve on a high-performing team responsible for utilizing Cloud technologies, data warehousing, data analytics and designing innovative analytical solutions.  As an experienced Data & DevOps engineer, you will be responsible for all cloud infrastructure components in the Charles River Laboratories Enterprise Data Hub (EDH) and Microsoft Azure cloud-based warehousing and reporting solution supporting multiple applications across many business segments, while also mentoring data engineering teams and advising on best practices in cloud application infrastructure.

Note : Its an fully remote working role with some occasional business travel requirements. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

•Assist with building a Center of Excellence around Azure data platform production operations

•Standardize and implement code branching strategy

•Enable developers with automation of deployments and testing frameworks

•Document, implement and audit security and access permissions for the data platform

•Follow and implement CI/CD and data pipelines for Azure data platform

•Monitor nightly data pipelines to meet SLAs

•Create and standardize user communications for operations failures

•Implement segregation of duties for development versus operations in Azure Data platform

•Partner with DevOps core team to align with their framework

•Partner with transactional DBA team to provide guidance on cloud migrations

•Learn on Prem Data Warehouse Environment and implement enhancements for operations Job Qualifications Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, Master’s Degree preferred 

•Minimum of 7 years related experience in Data and DevOps Engineering

•Experience in GitHub branching strategy for Dev, test, Production, Hotfix environments

•Experience working with Agile squads

•An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Experience (preferred):

•Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Snowflake

•License governance and Cloud Cost control and reporting

•Support Data Science teams in data modelling

•Understand different types of storage (filesystem, relation, MPP, NoSQL) and working with various kinds of data (structured, unstructured, metrics, logs, etc.) 

•Minimum of 5 years RDBS administration (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle), Exadata servers

•Experience in ETL design, development, and general performance tuning

•Cross team experience in working with Architecture and Security teams

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Ability to navigate ambiguity and define desired outcome
