Job Description

At Bulk Elemental Analysis (BEA), we develop and maintain software for Optical-Emission and X-Ray spectrometers. Our solutions are needed for our customers from metallurgy, cement, and mining industries to advance their technologies and products while becoming more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

As a member of an international team of scientists, software developers, and engineers, you'll take part in developing a software platform that helps BEA teams to configure, build, and evolve all our instruments.

The team consists of 8 members, with the majority located in Brno: 4 developers, a QA specialist, a domain expert, a product owner, and a team leader.

Daily Challenges

You'll support all stages of the product lifecycle, from research and feasibility through development and maintenance.

  • Learn the spectroscopy domain to understand the context of our applications
  • Study how we build our instruments on the legacy platform, and help design and develop a new web-based solution
  • Work closely with other team members and the product owner to implement new requirements
  • Grow in a culture that stretches your domain knowledge, software engineering, collaboration, and communication skills

Technologies we use

Although our technology stack is broad, below are the technologies you will work the most with during your daily tasks.

  • Our new platform uses C#/.NET, ASP.NET Core, and Microsoft SQL Server on the backend, with a React and TypeScript front-end delivered through an Electron thin client. We deploy on AWS using Docker.
  • We use technology packs from GitHub, Jenkins and JFrog to set up automated build and deployment pipelines
  • You might also work with other software components written in C++, VB6, Python, and batch scripts

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Should you have the following skills, you have a good chance to succeed in your new role.

  • Good command of English, proactivity and team work
  • Ability to work in established environment where you need to dig deep into complex systems and processes using analytical skills, reverse-engineering, and out-of-the-box thinking
  • At least 3 years of experience with the back-end technologies listed above. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, our full-stack technologies is a plus
  • 2 years of experience with database design and query techniques
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and current trends in agentic coding
  • University diploma or equivalent required

Benefits
  • Flexible working hours to better balance your personal life. 25 days of vacation, plus 5 sick days per year
  • Option for partial home office (1 to 2 days per week) after probation period
  • Financial benefits: annual bonus, meal allowance, and pension insurance allowance
  • Additional perks: discounted mobile plan for you and your family, free Multisport card, and discounted life and health insurance
  • Modern work environment with relax zones, power yoga classes, a gym, an outdoor playground, and on-site physiotherapy massages. The company canteen serves fresh meals throughout the day.
  • Brand-new maker space equipped with a VR headset, a recording studio for video, music, and podcasts, Lego Mindstorms, a 3D printer, Arduino kits, and more
