The Director, Portfolio Optimization translates the commercial operations strategy into the development and transformation of infrastructural support for PPD's Commercial function. Drives and directs the implementation of a number of key commercial infrastructural initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and success of the commercial organization.

Essential Functions: Leads initiatives to maximize salesforce effectiveness, utilization and optimization efforts. Establishes KPIs and performance metrics that lead to highly effective business visibility and decision making. Enhances the processes and tools to track and / or analyze account performance and territory / customer segmentation performance. Supports the annual operating plan and budgeting process. Implements and directs BD budget tracking and monitoring. Directs the BD forecasting process and tools utilizing qualification data to drive greater insight and accuracy in to our forecast. Identifies and directs the implementation of policies to enhance the effectiveness of the department. Develops and directs use of reporting tools and capabilities that enable effective analysis and communication for resourcing needs, priority reporting, and other needs as determined by operational strategy. Develops, directs, and implements various commercial operations initiatives that improve the monitoring and management of commercial accounts. Collaborates with BD, SPD, TA across business units to develop tailored solutions for Biotech clients (new and existing) across all business units within PPD Faster data pulls for ballparks and T&Ms to assist and support the internal process Develops high quality strategic & tactical plans that incorporate highly competitive complex solutions to support commercial finance, strategic proposals, and operational strategies across business units for clients Tracks CRO industry trends to ensure PPD is well positioned as the leader in developing & executing innovation commercial packages Develops and presents materials that articulate strategic models to internal & external stakeholders as required Analyzes and develops potential opportunities for potential and existing clinical development clients in biotech, venture capital organizations, partnership programs VC alignment and strategy for portfolio companies, proactive selling, and TA alignment working with internal SMEs Development and analysis of territory alignment planning for new and existing clients within territory to increase market opportunities in support of business development goals and targets Assists with BDM prep in-house and at times onsite during higher-volume times to support with slide creation, strategy alignment, and training of team for messaging Meets with clients via phone in support of BD to better articulate the strategy from an Operational perspective to gain client buy-in.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 15 years).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated success in a similar role that has consistently achieved measurable results and business impact as a result of intelligence analysis and related work product Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and visual reporting formats Solid business acumen across multiple disciplines Ability to build data-driven business cases Exceeds at building/maintaining relationships across disciplines internally and externally Demonstrated ability to facilitate multiple projects simultaneously delivering all at a high-level under tight timeline constraints Ability to articulate analysis with strong presentation skills and contribute to executive-level discourse Well-developed quantitative and qualitative data review and analysis skills Understanding of the biotech/emerging pharma landscape and early identification of companies to target as customers
