15–24-vuotiaat nuoret tytöt ja nuoret naiset (AGYW) kärsivät edelleen eniten HIV-infektioista Etelä-Afrikassa huolimatta ennaltaehkäisy- ja hoitoohjelmien edistymisestä.
Nuorten naisten jatkuva alttius HIV-tartunnalle ja ehkäisyvaihtoehtojen, kuten erittäin tehokkaiden Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) -mahdollisuuksien epäoptimaalinen hyödyntäminen luo tarpeen HIV-rokotteelle, joka hyödyttää väestöä, jolla on huomattava HIV-tartunnan riski.
Aiempien rokotetutkimusten ja äskettäisen COVID-19-rokotteen opetukset ovat kuitenkin tuoneet esiin merkittäviä esteitä rokotteen oton tiellä, kuten laajalle levinnyt väärä tieto ja rokotteen epäröinti.
Nämä haasteet uhkaavat tulevan HIV-rokotteen onnistunutta käyttöönottoa.
Näihin oivalluksiin perustuen tässä tutkimuksessa hyödynnetään psykologista rokoteteoriaa teini-ikäisten tyttöjen ja nuorten naisten HIV-rokoteviestien kehittämiseksi ja arvioimiseksi.
Ensisijainen tavoite: Vertaa muutoksia aikomuksissa saada HIV-rokote altistumisen jälkeen väärille tiedoille ryhmissä psykologisella rokotuksella tai ilman sitä ja käyttäytymistaloudellista tehostetta.
Toissijaiset tavoitteet: (1) Vertaa väärään informaatioon liittyvien väitteiden uskottavuutta ja vakuuttavuutta sekä väärään informaatioon liittyvää motivaatiouhkaa ryhmissä psykologisella rokotuksella ja käyttäytymistaloudellisella tehosteella tai ilman.
(2) Tutkia alaryhmien vaikutuksia asiaankuuluvien sosiodemografisten ja käyttäytymiseen liittyvien tekijöiden mukaan, mukaan lukien HIV-riski, PrEP-historia, COVID-19-rokotteen historia, yleinen rokotteen epäröinti ja tiedon välttäminen.
Tutkijat suorittavat kolmihaaraisen satunnaistetun kontrolloidun kokeen 2-3 rokotusviestillä, jotka käsittelevät uusia myyttejä ja väärää tietoa HIV-rokotteesta Etelä-Afrikassa.
Osallistujat jaetaan satunnaisesti kontrolliryhmään tai toiseen kahdesta interventiohaarasta: (1) rokotusviestihaara tai (2) tehostetaan rokotusviestiä käyttäytymistalouden oivalluksilla.
