PLYOMETRIC TRAINING VERSUS CALISTHENIC TECHNIQUE FOR IMPROVING JUMP PERFORMANCE AND PATELLOFEMORAL FUNCTION IN KARATE ATHLETES
Plyometric Training Versus Calisthenic Techniques for Improving Jump Performance and Patellofemoral Function in Karate Athletes
This randomized clinical trial will compare plyometric and calisthenic training in 44 karate athletes at Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar, split into two groups of 22 and trained three times a week for 6 weeks. Jump performance will be measured with the wall-based vertical jump test and knee function with the Kujala Anterior Knee Pain Scale, to see which method better improves jump performance

Detaljeret beskrivelse
This study is to compare the effect of plyometric training and calisthenic exercises on the jump performance and patellofemoral function of karate athletes. The study will be a randomized clinical trial at Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar, with 44 karate athletes (18-35 years) who will be randomly divided into two groups of 22 participants each: group A will receive the plyometric training, while the other group B will receive calisthenic training . Both groups will be given a total of six weeks (three session per week) of training. The wall-based vertical jump test will be used to assess jump performance and the patellofemoral pain and functioning will be assessed using Kujala Anterior Knee Pain Scale (AKPS). The purpose of the study is to identify the more effective training method to improve jump performance in karate athlete.

Eksperimentel: Plyometric training
The purpose of plyometric training/ jump training is to increase both speed and power by using maximal force of muscles at one time. The main purpose of using plyometrics is to enhance performance of athletes. |
Plyometric training increases speed and power by producing maximal muscle force in a short time. It includes the single leg hop and double leg hop to build leg power and landing control, the standing long jump for horizontal explosive power, the lateral cone hop for sideways power and agility, and the countermovement jump to improve vertical jump height. Training will be given three sessions per week for six weeks. |
|
Eksperimentel: Calisthenic techniques
Calisthenics exercises are exercises that use body weight for resistance. It , increase an individual's strength, agility, balance and flexibility. |
Calisthenics use body weight as resistance to improve strength, agility, balance, and flexibility. It includes burpees for full-body strength and endurance, sit-ups for core strength, bench dips for upper-body strength, jumping jacks for fitness and coordination, and jump squats for leg strength and power. Training will be given three sessions per week for six weeks, with two sets of each exercise, 15 seconds of rest between exercises, and 2 minutes between sets. |
