The role:

The Senior Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining, creating and managing a portfolio or transformation program of solutions, offerings and capabilities that deliver business objectives. It is your responsibility to ensure that all solutions within the portfolio align to the business strategy and meet the technical standards set across the business. They will create the roadmaps and transitional architectures to drive future evolution of the solutions within the portfolio.

You will take ownership for the strategy within their domain space to ensure that this aligns with the business needs and strategy and creates a compelling set of solutions and offerings. Considering and balancing economic, business, technical and compliance considerations.

Leading a set solution, domain and system designers as well as other staff within the portfolio. Ensuring that the right skills and tools and methods are available to deliver the portfolio of capability.

Key Accountabilities :

Solution architecture – Leads the development of systems architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas.

Enterprise & business architecture – Contributes to the creation and review of a systems capability strategy which meets the strategic requirements of the business.

Portfolio management – Ensures that programme /project leads and/or service owners adhere to the agreed portfolio management approach and timetable and that they provide the appropriate information to agreed targets of timelines.

Requirement & definition management – Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for large / complex initiatives.

Business risk management - Carries out risk assessment within a defined functional or technical area of business.

Emerging technology monitoring - Monitors the market to gather intelligence on emerging technologies.

Quality management - Assists project managers, functional managers or team leaders in planning the quality management for their area of responsibility.

Change management - Develops implementation plans for complex requests for change. Evaluates risks to the integrity of service environment inherent in proposed implementations (including availability, performance, security and compliance of the business services impacted).

Requirement definition management - Plans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for large / complex initiatives. Selects, adopts and adapts appropriate requirements definition and management method, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from plan-driven/predictive approaches or more adaptive (iterative and agile) approaches.

Performance Management - Supervises individuals and teams. Allocates routine tasks and/or project work. Provides direction, support and guidance as necessary, in line with individuals’ skills and abilities.

Resourcing - Implements resource plans, including conducting recruitment interviews.

Facilitates selection, assessment and on-boarding processes, and internal resource allocation.

Knowledge and Experience :

The candidate will ideally have 15 years’ experience in technical delivery and have a proven record in undertaking design and architecture activities. This can be demonstrated via experience and while not necessary the below certification would be desirable Solution / Enterprise design qualification (e.g. TOGAF) or experience. Certification in design methodology (e.g. UML) or experience. Certification in scaled agile delivery (e.g. SAFe) or experience. Certification in agile delivery (e.g. scrum) or experience. Evidence of successful delivery of complex solutions and offerings

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (Maths, Science, Engineering, Computing) or a

related study / equivalent project-related experience.
