Location/Division Specific Information

This position will be site based in Plainville, MA and will support our Viral Vector Services (VVS Plainville) business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific. At VVS Plainville, we deliver process development through commercial supply and offer the expertise and resources vital to help clients deliver innovative gene therapies. Placed in the forefront of our leading and cutting edge Cell and Gene Therapy business enabling clients to cure genetic, rare, and otherwise untreatable diseases.

Discover Impactful Work:

The Sr Sample Coordinator receives, log ins, and stores all product samples submitted to the QC laboratories. Prepares samples for shipment to client and contract testing laboratories. Provides guidance for outsource testing options during sample plan generation.

Shift: Wednesday -Saturday 10pm-8:30am

A Day in the Life:
  • Liaise between client and contract test lab to generate client-specific protocols and purchase orders.
  • Generate batch release documentation (COT and COA) for drug substance, In-process samples, and drug product.
  • Perform inventory control of QC stability, reference standards, and assay control samples.
  • Review stability protocols for alignment to site procedures and provide testing summary reports.
  • Author, review, and approve QC procedures, forms, and work instructions.
  • Ensure sample chain of custody documentation.
  • Perform lab walk through inspections and enter repair requests in work order system.
  • Manage sample disposal in LIMS.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning.
  • Run autoclave to sterilize testing equipment.
  • Review electronic logbooks for accuracy.
  • Routinely order and replenish laboratory supplies.

Keys to Success:

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, or related discipline preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience
  • 2-3 years of industry experience or highly regulated industry.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Skilled with electronic information management systems (LIMS, electronic logbooks, etc.) and electronic organizational skills using Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, SharePoint or other planning tools.
  • Ability to communicate/work in a high pressure/high paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and function effectively as a member of a team
  • Good attention to detail and ability to adhere to standard operating procedures.

Special Requirements

  • Required to train on first shift Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm until able to perform job duties independently as determined by manager.
  • Ability to gown and gain access to cleanrooms.
  • Position requires frequent bending, stooping, standing, and ability to lift 40lbs.
  • Ability to work with strong chemical odors such as Spor-Klenz or bleach.
  • Position is considered essential personnel and may be required to staff the lab during inclement weather or other internal/external emergency situations.
  • Rotating holiday coverage.
  • Occasional off shift hours may be required to meet business needs.
