Job Summary

We are looking for an Cage Wash / Animal Care Assistant (Rodents) to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in South San Francisco, CA.

What you will do! 

In this role you will prepare caging for cagewash under supervision.  You will also sanitize caging and related equipment using cage washers, pressure washer or hand washing as required.  Clean and sanitize cage preparation and storage areas.  Monitor and record results of cagewash water temperature and cleaning results using provided supplies such as temperature dots/strips, cultures.  Ensures that all logbooks, checklists and other records are completed in a timely fashion.  Flush all animal racks.  Bed and prepare clean cages for use.  Ensure the correct times are selected and are used for each cagewash load.  Ensure proper amounts of chemicals are present. Report any chemical needs to the supervisor.

You will also report mechanical failures promptly and properly to the supervisor.  Perform all work assignments in accordance with guidelines established by federal, state and local regulatory agencies. Perform animal husbandry duties including but not limited to preparation and actual changing of cages and related cage accessories, feeding, and manual watering or monitoring/testing automatic watering devices. i.e.,  Prepare caging for cagewash, including scraping floor grids & cages, breaking down caging and emptying pans.  Functions as a team member and maintains professional conduct at all times.  Assist with housekeeping duties such as trash collection and cleaning animal facility laboratories, offices and ancillary areas.  Maintain equipment used in performance of work and/or reports the problem to supervisor.  Operate Super Tube washer in accordance with SOP.  Perform microbiological sampling in accordance with SOP.

Job Qualifications

Who are we looking for?  A candidate that possesses a High School diploma, G.E.D. Ability to read, write, understand and follow directions. Ability to recognize and communicate verbally and/or in writing, problems requiring the attention of high level personnel in a timely and appropriate manner.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - 22.00 per hour.
