The Position:

As an Operations Engineer you are a member of a dedicated cluster in the Operations Engineering department. You will improve products and internal processes during the sustaining phase of parts and modules. You will also closely work together with supplier to improve products and processes in the supply chain and adequately resolving technical issues. Using the Product Management Process (PMP) you support the introduction of new technology into the factory. By developing relationships and close collaboration with Manufacturing, Service, Quality, R&D, Logistics, Sourcing and PLM to ensure the development of sustainable products meeting the latest quality standards, at lowest COGS and in line with the best strategy throughout the life cycle of a product.

What will you do:

  • Deliver technical support to the factory, to ensure that Thermo Fisher is capable of shipping high quality systems on-time to its customers;

  • Supports our suppliers with engineering expertise. This includes the analysis of parts/modules for reliability, manufacturability, vendor qualification support, participates in supplier audits and supplier support on technical/quality issues;

  • Write work instructions and define the way of working for the factory (process flow);

  • Performs hands-on assembly, testing, problem solving and training of personnel as required during project work;

  • Supports factory and field service engineers with first builds, installs and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules to ensure proper working order. in factory or field service (remote or on customer site);

  • Facilitates and may lead Operations improvements projects from inception to completion;

How will you get here?

  • A Bachelor or University degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering is required;

  • Proven experience in high tech industry and working in cleanroom environment;

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with electron microscopy is a huge plus;

  • Broad affinity with mechanics, electronics and software;

  • Process oriented and focused on continuous improvements;

  • Strong communication and social skills, both internally and with external parties;

  • Excellent English language skills (verbal and in writing), Dutch is a huge plus;

  • Excellent problem solving skills, Statistical Engineering experience would be highly beneficial;

  • Ability to create technical documentation and engineering reports;

  • Be a collaborative team-player with hands-on and can-do mentality;

  • Self-starter who sets priorities and goals by him/herself and is productive with minimal direction;

  • Gets results, even under difficult situations and is creative (finds better/alternative ways).
