Job Description

Director of Global Security for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) Region will coordinate security efforts across the organization. Identify and implement security initiatives and standards that will reduce risk and enable security monitoring and direction via a Global Security Operations Center, GSOC.

Contribute to design and layout of video systems, access control, intrusion detection and life safety systems. This position will coordinate all global security responses by the development, implementation and oversight of policies and procedures designed to minimize the vulnerability of Thermo Fisher Scientific employees and physical assets from harm, loss and/or compromise resulting from dishonest, criminal and/or inappropriate acts. This goal is accomplished by providing reliable, responsive and effective services including, but not limited to, threat/risk assessment, investigations and physical security design subject matter expertise. Director of Global Security will liaison with international security and intelligence groups to determine global risk to employees while at company facilities or conducting business travel.

Key Responsibilities:

Review security guidelines and standards for all new construction, remodels and upgrades. Actively participates in company’s proactive global response to “Workplace Violence Incidents” Provide security guidance and ground resources to ensure the safety of expat employees and business travel to high and very high risk countries. Review costs estimates, request for proposals, and installation specifications/instructions for physical security. Develop and manage the implementation of global security policies, standard, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security. Provide Security guidance and support for “Special Projects”. Investigate suspicious orders and acts of fraud against the company. Provide global support efforts for emergency responses as appropriate. Interact with outside guard services and security vendors who safeguard the organization’s assets and the physical safety of employees, visitor and contractors. Provide training to employees and managers on a variety of security and emergency response related plans. Work with outside consultants as appropriate. Participate in after-action reviews as applicable. All other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in security, risk management, travel security, workplace violence management, event security, executive protection support is required
  • Prior corporate security experience preferred
  • Prior Law Enforcement or investigate experience preferred
  • Must have good understanding of Duty of Care laws and concepts
  • Vendor management experience strongly preferred
  • Protective Intelligence investigative skills preferred
  • Prior Executive Protection experience preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field is strongly preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited Law Enforcement Academy preferred
