The Manufacturing Supervisor is a critical component for influencing and motivating your team to take on new challenges and realize their full potential, and ultimately facilitating a positive and engaging work environment. A Day in the Life:

The successful candidate demonstrates efficiency, contagious optimism and a “can do” demeanor. They lead by example and hold themselves and others accountable, while maintaining productive and professional relationships within the team. The candidate must also be strategic and forward thinking as well as inspiring, empowering and collaborating with others. The role is responsible for leading multiple manufacturing teams and systems/processes with responsibilities for safety, quality, compliance, cost and human resource.

The primary responsibilities are as follows:

  • Promotes and facilitates the safest working environment for all employees.
  • Creates work center performance goals and leads each work center and each individual towards achieving those goals. Performs full performance evaluations for all direct employees.
  • Efficiently facilitates communication between technical subject matter experts (SMEs) and the manufacturing team, to enhance processes and improve overall quality.
  • Recommends and coordinates measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Creates daily schedule and weekly goals for the team specific to work order readiness, quality, and support of internal customers.
  • Works with product realization teams to facilitate the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
  • Schedules team overtime, plans time off and supervises overall attendance to drive the operation’s financials.
  • Creates and supports career development plans for direct employees.
  • Drives Practical Process Improvements (PPI) with a high level of team member involvement, engagement, and applies lean methodologies to realize process efficiencies.
  • Effectively reviews metrics to benchmark and drive team performance.
  • Works with support staff such as the Equipment Services Team, Engineering, IT, Quality, Manufacturing Teams, Planning and Scheduling to complete manufacturing schedule to meet customer demands.

Keys to Success:

Education / Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required + 5 years of experience or Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering or other related field preferred + 1 year or experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or research laboratory and 1+ years in a leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership abilities with capability to demonstrate diverse resources, respond quickly, understand impact of changes and decisions, facilitate agreement, build collaborative relationships and understand customer needs.
  • Experience with ISO or cGMP regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with an ERP system.
  • Experience with Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Systems and tools (or similar Continuous Improvement and Lean Systems).
  • Ability to collaborate with numerous departments and varying levels of employees.
  • Must ensure all team members work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials while adhering to ergonomic guidelines.
  • Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Energized while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Greets challenge and change as opportunity.
  • Displays strong project management skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $75,000.00–$112,500.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
