In return, we’ll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Technician 1 for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, Nevada.

The Behavioral Technicianwill assist with providing appropriate enrichments to the animals' structural and social environments and provide opportunities for species-typical activities. Monitor colony behavioral health and provide care to animals needing special attention and/or treatments as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Observe animals and report behavioral abnormalities. Assist in performing behavioral assessments in response to reports of behavioral abnormalities. Assist with coordinating animal psychological/behavioral enrichment, including the acclimation and socialization of study animals. Review animal approval documentation and submit approval forms to appropriate personnel.

The following are minimum requirements related to the Behavioral Technician position: Education: Bahelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in animal or life sciences or related discipline. Experience: 1-3 years expereience in animal research and/or husbandry; multi-species experience preferred or must have fully satisfied technical and experieence requirements for the previous level. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the LAT level preferred. Other: Ability to handly common laboratory species. Proficient in basic technical skills and the operation data collection equipment. Knowledge of GLP's and other federal regulations and guidelines relating to the care of the laboratory animals. Understanding of routine study design and protocols.
