Deze studie is een gerandomiseerde fase 3-studie waarin de combinatie van pemetrexed en cisplatine wordt vergeleken met gemcitabine en cisplatine voor de behandeling van niet-kleincellige longkanker (NCSLC). Gemcitabine plus cisplatine is momenteel de standaardbehandeling voor NSCLC. Aangenomen wordt dat pemetrexed plus cisplatine even effectief kan zijn en mogelijk minder bijwerkingen heeft dan de standaardbehandeling.

Deelname Criteria

Beschrijving

Inclusiecriteria:

  • Diagnose van NSCLC stadium IIIB niet vatbaar voor curatieve behandeling of stadium IV.
  • Geen eerdere chemotherapie voor longkanker.
  • Patiënten moeten ten minste één unidimensionaal meetbare laesie hebben.
  • Voorafgaande radiotherapie tot minder dan 25% van het beenmerg, het hele bekken is niet toegestaan. De bestraling moet ten minste 4 weken voorafgaand aan de inschrijving voor de studie zijn voltooid.

Uitsluitingscriteria:

  • Behandeling met een geneesmiddel in de afgelopen 30 dagen dat geen wettelijke goedkeuring heeft gekregen.
  • Ernstige hartaandoening.
  • Ernstige medische aandoening naast NSCLC die het voor de patiënt moeilijk zou maken om het onderzoek af te ronden.
  • Onvermogen of onwil om foliumzuur of vitamine B12-suppletie te nemen.
  • Aanwezigheid van vochtretentie die niet kan worden gecontroleerd door drainage.
