Questo studio è uno studio randomizzato di fase 3 che confronta la combinazione di pemetrexed e cisplatino con gemcitabina e cisplatino per il trattamento del carcinoma polmonare non a piccole cellule (NCSLC). Criterio di inclusione:

  • Diagnosi di NSCLC Stadio IIIB non suscettibile di trattamento curativo o Stadio IV.
  • Nessuna precedente chemioterapia per il cancro ai polmoni.
  • I pazienti devono avere almeno una lesione misurabile unidimensionalmente.
  • Precedente radioterapia a meno del 25% del midollo osseo, intera pelvi non consentita. La radiazione deve essere completata almeno 4 settimane prima dell'arruolamento nello studio.

Criteri di esclusione:

  • Trattamento con qualsiasi farmaco negli ultimi 30 giorni che non ha ricevuto l'approvazione normativa.
  • Condizione cardiaca grave.
  • Disturbo medico grave oltre al NSCLC che renderebbe difficile per il paziente completare lo studio.
  • Incapacità o riluttanza ad assumere integratori di acido folico o vitamina B12.
  • Presenza di ritenzione idrica non controllabile dal drenaggio.
