Key responsibilities include, but are not exclusively:

  • Working in compliance with legislation and IMS (required for all) Partner development and delivery teams to implement a low friction model that enables strategic business outcomes, increases collaboration, improves transparency, and decreases risks.

  • Develop and maintain a 12 months project portfolio roadmap that accounts for all major initiatives, dependencies across tracks, and required resources.

  • Conduct regular project portfolio reviews with business leaders and executives.

  • Work with business units to ensure all new demands are well understood and prioritized against other existing demands.

  • Create and manage relationships with business and technology partners to facilitate timely and accurate delivery, identification of risks, issues and dependencies, and trade-off discussions to handle resource constraints.

  • Supervise the health of the portfolio. Identify, track, and prioritize portfolio-level risks, issues, and dependencies, proactively addressing impediments and actively collaborating with project managers and leaders across the organization to resolve roadblocks and enable successful execution, demonstrating lessons learned from prior experience and working to address and mitigate systemic issues.

  • Ensure program and project managers are providing updates regarding status of initiatives at risk, preparing and implementing mitigation plans to reduce risk, and calling out matters requiring executive leadership involvement for resolution.

  • Drive fiscal year project portfolio budget and resource planning ensuring portfolio of projects stay within budget and provide insight in to resource demands.

  • May also be required to lead projects directly, developing detailed project plans, including setting targets for landmarks, and adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needed.

  • Identify staffing needs, balancing the availability of the required skills and competencies across project, program, and functional teams to deliver the objectives of the portfolio.

  • Be responsible for and facilitate project prioritisation with the governance board, administering the intake process and working with the collaborators on building out the project requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.

  • Demonstrated ability in leading medium to large projects and programs with proven experience in large enterprise system implementations and enhancements and 2+ years running portfolios.

  • Experience leading the execution and delivery of a portfolio of large scale, sophisticated Go-To-Market project initiatives with high attention to detail and accuracy, delivering upon commitments despite challenging priorities. 

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Process Definition/Alignment, Budget Management and Capacity/Resource Planning 

  • Deep understanding and experience in Project Methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).

  • Strong leadership, communication and motivational skills including being able to drive up, across and down multiple functions and organizations within Thermo Fisher Scientific.

  • Meticulous, organized, self-motivated, hardworking team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, including experience meeting with and communicating information to senior leadership

  • Consistent record to operate in multifaceted environments and exhibit agility in navigating from current state to proposed solutions.

  • Comfortable moving between the tactical and strategic, with the ability to adjust the approach and messaging to suit the audience.

  • Ability to distill large amounts of information that enable quick decision-making

  • Ability to influence outcomes and lead through conflict.

  • Passion for creating a frictionless and supportive project management experience.

  • Consistent track record to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving scenario.

  • Knowledge and experience using project management tools.

  • Desire to put a lasting mark in the design of an elite PMO.

  • Advanced Degree 

  • PMI (or equivalent) certification

  • Agile SDLC experience

  • Experience with PPM Pro, PowerBI and Azure DevOps
