Job Description

This co-op position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a chemical, biomedical, industrial, mechanical or related degree to get hands on experience working with engineers and other personnel in a fast paced manufacturing environment. The co-op will collaborate with various teams across the site and contribute to product and process improvement projects, manufacturing validation activities and other projects as assigned.\n\nWe consider students with technical/functional competence as well as their ability to work as team members within their assigned department. Training is on-the-job with expert supervision and support. Co-op assignments vary within each department and are determined by need. Work assignments commonly incorporate some early talent responsibilities with mentorship given for first-time experiences. Future work assignments increase in responsibility, complexity, and challenge. The rate at which a student can assume additional responsibilities is determined by their level of integrity, interest, initiative, and academic background.\n\nPROJECT SUMMARY\n\nUnder the direction of a designated supervisor:\n\nEngineering\n\n· Plan, design & direct project installation/construction\n\n· Contractor/Vendor supervision\n\n· Manage budget within the project scope\n\n· Assist in Facility/Equipment Validation (IQ/OQ’s)\n\nManufacturing\n\n· Qualification of equipment modifications or improvements\n\n· Trouble shoot existing equipment needs\n\n· Work with outside Vendors for quotes\n\n· Deviation investigation, root cause analysis\n\nOperational Excellence\n\n· Apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to reduce process variation & eliminate Non Valuable Activities\n\n· Conduct time studies to ensure accuracy of production performance standards.\n\n· Assists in completing Root Cause Analysis to drive Right First Time\n\n· Process Map or Value Stream Map Production and Transactional Processes.\n\nSkills and Abilities:\n\nAbility to work independently and as a member of a multi-functional team\nStrong willingness to learn, be mentored and improve\nDesire to contribute and improve design of new and existing products and processes\nExcellent written and oral communication skills\nQualifications\n\nCandidate must be enrolled in an Undergraduate Engineering Program or in a similar discipline.\n\n0-3 year experience preferred.\n\nTo qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
