LabCorp Oncology, a LabCorp Specialty Testing Group, provides reference anatomic pathology, hematopathology and molecular pathology testing services to hospitals, health systems and independent oncology practices. Integrated Oncology is focused on providing world class solutions to better the lives of patients living with cancer.
The schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm
Responsibilities:
Routine Procedures Include: Tissue culture and harvesting procedures; Slide making and banding; Automated karyotyping procedures
Reagent preparation; FISH processing, probing, scoping
Quality Control of documents daily performance criteria of reagents and equipment and evaluating acceptability of results with signatory review
Performs and evaluates trouble shooting procedures independently or by instruction
Evaluation of modifications for improvement of current methods
Assists in the validation of new test methods/instrumentation/reagents
Participates in training junior personnel and trainees
Assists Supervisor with coordination and management of workflow
Ensures maintenance of stock solutions and proper labeling of reagents
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
Requirements:
Bachelors in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or other Life Science
No experience is required for the Technologist Trainee Opening
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
