We are looking for ambitious contributors with an innovative mindset who take responsibility for generating new data and business. In this role, you will build data science capability on behalf of Syneos Health Commercial Solutions, provide as a consulting and analytical service to the clients.

Key Responsibilities:

The performance of this role will have an impact on Syneos Health's business success in three important areas: 1) creating new data service capability in Japan primarily, 2) providing advisory and data analysis work with our consulting team, and 3) providing data engineering and modeling for clients with the other regional data science team and vendors.

Specific Responsibilities for this role include:

• Create a roadmap to grow data as an asset to power data science and analytics capabilities. Leverage these capabilities to attract customers and identify strategic business opportunities

• Oversee the development and coding of software programs, algorithms, and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.

• Create a framework to translate data insights into actionable steps. Monitor and adapt metrics based on changes in business priorities

• Lead governance of the digital data assets, including development of governance plan and structure

• Communicate and collaborate across other internal functions for maximum business outcome.

• Report on data analytics activities to customer entities, incorporating novel reporting and data visualization techniques

• Perform as a strategic thought leader for Data Science and cross-functional organizations

• Assist team in identifying meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources, interpreting and communicating insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.

• Have broad expertise or innovative knowledge, use skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. 

• Support team in presenting findings and recommendations to customers (internal and external) in a clear and concise way to drive appropriate outcomes.

• Lead best-in-class Data Centre of Excellence. Mentor and coach the other team members across the business.

Requirements: 

Curiosity, and the ability to turn that curiosity into action, with the power of execution.

• Proficiency with a programming language (e.g., Python, R).

• Able to influence and unify the direct team and peers, as well as interact effectively as a strategic partner with senior management.

• Wide knowledge of the commercial business of the pharmaceutical or related industry is a plus.

• Strong data analysis and data modelling skills, good knowledge of statistics. At least 10-year work experience in the data business is required.

• Detailed understanding of how data science models are developed.

• Proven experience leading a high performing team and working across multiple stakeholders to deliver results while educating and growing team members. Global experience is preferred.

• Ability to communicate data insights and data science concepts to senior technical and non-technical internal stakeholders and external clients.

• Excellent perception and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to quickly recognize opportunities.

• The ability to work independently while maintaining commercial leadership and communication in real-time.
