Job responsibilities

  • The Specialist will implement a strategy that enables Clinical Trial Management (CTM) team to deliver on enrollment goals
  • Collaborate with Program Lead on the development and delivery of comprehensive and innovative global recruitment and retention strategy for assigned protocols
  • Leverage available sources to evaluate past and current landscape, patient journey map, patient ID strategy and patient experience plan
  • Develop and deliver protocol specific patient recruitment toolkits for use by Clinical Trial Management team
  • Manage workflow and internal review of patient facing materials between internal and external stakeholders
  • Track metrics/KPIs related to assigned protocols
  • Contributor to vetting and recommending patient recruitment vendors in partnership with Vendor Management team
  • Contribute to process improvement activities within patient recruitment group
  • Contribute to creation of centralized repository for program and study support tactics ad tools
  • Accountable for establishing strategies for clinical trials that drive recruitment and retention of diverse populations representative of the epidemiology of disease in the US 
  • Lead, build and implement internal and external awareness on the importance of diversity and inclusion in clinical trials (applicable to global)
  • Identify and develop strategies to drive process changes required to increase participation of diverse populations.
  • In partnership with study teams, the lead will set diversity targets and oversee program level strategies to meet targets and implement these strategies throughout the execution of the trial
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet customer expectations including contracted deliverables, provision of accurate projections, reports and updates, together with ongoing risk assessment and proactive mitigation strategies. 
  • Contributes to departmental growth through internal and external business development opportunities either through support of pre-award opportunities or Site and Patient Diversity consultation for existing projects already awarded to Syneos Health.
  • Act as the single point of contact/primary lead for clinical trial initiatives and is the primarily in contact with the Director of Site and Patient Diversity for clinical trial related diversity KPIs
  • Leads or participates in change initiatives across and within the Site & Patient Access Business Unit. 
  • Collaborate with sponsor and study team in the creation of study-level diversity plans in alignment with the Consolidated Appropriations Act, Jan 2023, and April 2022 FDA draft guidance 
    • Develop and implement study-level diversity strategy based on disease epidemiology or population data
    • Support the clinical study teams throughout the trial lifecycle
    • Monitor enrollment and progress against diversity enrollment goals
    • Conduct training and deliver presentations to educate internal project teams 
    • Provide oversight and serve as clinical trial diversity SME to study teams in support of study-level diversity strategy
    • Work with Patient Engagement team to ensure recruitment and retention materials are culturally sensitive and follow recommended literacy levels
    • Support additional diversity initiatives as needed

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • BA/BS in the biological sciences or related discipline in the natural sciences/health care field (e.g. RN) 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within patient recruitment/retention and clinical trials

  • Knowledge of current legislative and regulatory requirements and guidelines concerning clinical trial diversity and diversity plans.
  • Knowledge of barriers to enrollment of underrepresented patient populations in clinical trial
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database applications), email, and internet
  • Strong presentation skills, interpersonal skills, as well as a team oriented approach 
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and time management skills 
  • Ability to multitask under tight deadlines on several projects with specific and unique requirements, while providing attention to detail and high quality work  
  • Ability to be flexible, adapt to change, work independently, as well as work as part of a team in a matrix environment
  • Strong study-level and department-level operational experience with a track record of leadership and a willingness to challenge yourself to meet study, department, and company goals
